RelaxZen Day Formula
As a pseudo-impulse buy I got a new laptop. I was at the store and I saw they had them cheap. The entire ride home was spent justifying to myself that I could afford it and that I needed a new computer. By the time I walked in the door I was convinced and walked right up to my computer that works perfectly fine and typed in newegg.com. I found a better computer for cheaper within a couple of minutes and after a bit of hemming and hawing, I bought it.
It's now a few days later and I have my new toy in front of me and I have just finished installing what I believe to be all the programs I need. I am now at the point of extreme frustration; getting Traktor to recognize my MIDI mixer for when I DJ. When I first set it up with my old computer I thought my head was going to explode. I convinced myself it would be easier this time, but nope. I'm sure I'll spend hours working on it and get extremely frustrated. I am at a fairly high level of frustration now. That is where this drink comes in.
Like a lot of functional drinks this tastes like some sort of melted down treat. In this case it's orange freezie pop with a medicinal aftertaste. It really isn't nearly as bad as I expected. It's actually kind of like Tang. I wonder if this is what astronauts drink to stay calm and focused. I feel like it's starting to kick in, so now back to my personal hell for the night.

Sippin Syrup Purple
You know how you sometimes buy a two-liter of soda pop and it sits in your fridge too long, because you're not a glutton who needs that much cruddy soda in your life? It's been in there so long that it has lost a lot of its carbonation and it's on the verge of becoming flat. It has just the most minuscule amount of fizz. Okay remember how that feels in your mouth. Now think about a grape little Huggie. You know the drinks for kids that come in those tiny translucent plastic bottles. Now think of a melted grape freezie pop. Now in your mind mix all three and don't forget to shake vigorously to get rid of a little more of that carbonation. Now you have Sippin Syrup.
I didn't experience any relaxation from this at all. I was a bit tired before I drank it, and if anything it woke me up a little bit more. It has the same stuff in it as other relaxation drinks I've had. It must just not be in as high quantities.

Drank Extreme Relaxation Beverage
The original Drank was a southern hip hop "beverage." It was normally Sprite with a bottle of codeine cough syrup dumped in it. Sometimes Jolly Ranchers were thrown in for good measure.
Now this is a mass produced "safe" version. It's pretty much a very light grape pop with rose hips, melatonin and Valerian Root thrown in.
I expected this to be very thick on syrupy, as I image the original version was. It really just tastes like a tame grape soda.
It definitely relaxes you and makes you sleepy. As the can says "slow your roll."

The Relaxing Company Relaxing Tea
This is nice. It just tastes like a decent quality iced tea sweetened with agave. If someone poured me a glass, I would have no idea, based on taste, that it was anything other than a normal iced tea.
This doesn't have all of the crazy stuff that the other relaxation drinks I've had in the past have. It's just tea, sweetener and kava root. It doesn't make you pass out like the other varieties do, but it does relax you and just calms you out. I'm pretty sure you could down one of these in the middle of a stressful day, and you wouldn't want to take a nap, but you would probably feel better.
I don't know if it's really related or not, but I did have a bunch of weird dreams last night after I drank it. I was the only real member of my band on a tour (our friends Bedford Falls from Wales were filling in for every other instrument), we played to a crowd of zombies, and I had to bash them with my bass, then we went and looted my absentee landlord's other property. You know, just like real life. All of it.

Good Night Drink 'n' Dream
Let me start off by saying that I absolutely love the design on this can. It may be the best looking packaging of anything we've reviewed yet. It's simple and pleasant. From color to typeface everything is perfect.
I couldn't sleep last night. I blame this on my cat. Earlier in the day I was sitting on my bed reading, and she jumped up and curled into a ball under my arm. I took advantage of this rare scenario and ended up falling asleep. Cut to the middle of the night and I'm still awake after watching yet another mediocre movie. I grabbed this from the fridge and drank it down. It is lightly carbonated with a strawberry taste to it. It's a very specific strawberry taste, not like biting into a big juicy berry. It took me awhile to figure it out, but it reminds me of the strawberry fluoride that you got at the dentist when you were a kid. The thing is this wasn't gross. Yes it tastes slightly medicinal, but was pleasant in a way that I didn't expect.
It didn't work like I had hoped it would. I was probably being impatient though as it was late, and all I wanted to do was sleep. Miracle cures don't exist. Remember that. After awhile (it seemed like forever, but was probably about a half hour) I passed out to a dream filled slumber. In one of the dreams I was on a road trip in a van with a bunch of friends and their fathers. We stopped at a weird rest stop and Mike and I looked at strange drinks. I guess that's not too far from my real life, except in the dream I drove 16 hours straight. Sometimes dreams are just more exhausting than real life.

Marley's Mellow Mood Berry
I'm going to hold back on the hippy jokes here. I mean I think we pretty much covered it in our last two Marley's Mellow Mood reviews.
For some reason last night I was wide awake at 2am. I tossed and turned for a little bit, until it hit me that I had this stashed away in the back of the fridge. As if here was an imaginary sign on it that said, "Crack open in case of emergency." Glug. Glug. Glug. A couple minutes later I was back in bed under the warmth of my comforter. Since it takes a little while to kick in, I decided to read while I waited. Unfortunately (?) for me, the book was way interesting and I fought through the sleepiness so that I could find out what happened in the storyline. Hours later I finally decided I had to give in and I passed out instantly. Keep in mind that I could have passed out twenty minutes after I drank the can, but that damn book just made me stay up. I was possessed I tell you!
This is supposed to be a carbonated berry flavor, and there is a strong berry flavor when you sip it. The problem is that the berry is quickly washed out by an aftertaste of fennel (which is not listed in the ingredients). I am not a fan of fennel by any means. I do enjoy a visit from its brother-in-law anise in my root beer, but I normally just can't do fennel. I was able to handle it in this. I made it through the can without being completely grossed out. The fruit flavor made it not as strong, and eased my tongue into it. I'm going to stick with the citrus variety myself, but if fennel is your thing I think you would love this.

RelaxZen Night Mellow Berry
I will admit. I have been leery to try relaxation drinks. I don't know how my body is going to react. They all typically have the same ingredients, rose hips, melatonin, more stuff. All natural, earth grown, vitamins, more stuff. I think that I have a history of taking medicine when I was way younger and not eating and get nauseous. All the time I would do it. I would, for some stupid reason, not eat all day, take some Tylenol or something and feel...just...gross. Taking the medicine made me feel worse. All I had to do was put some peanut butter on bread and all would have been fixed. I could have easily bypassed dozens of ill feeling days/nights/etc.
So now you know my history of medicine, or at least a significant portion of it, so last night, I decided to give this a try. I drank it and it tasted very diet. It is fully explainable since no one is going to want sugar before you go to bed, and that's the intended usage of this product, so they had to artificially sweeten it. Don't get mad at them because they thought of knocking you out cold. It did have a sharp berry taste. It wasn't bad. If you're used to diet drinks, this is no different and you know the "sharpness" you're talking about.
I had full intention of watching at least two episodes of Cowboy Bebop last night. I watched one and made it through about 10 minutes of another one before I was knocked out cold. They say that it reached full potency at 15 minutes and you'll start getting sleepy. I clocked in at probably about a half hour before I started doing that thing where you don't get enough sleep, go to math class, and fall asleep for seconds at a time. I slept through the night, had some strange dream about a social gathering at the abandoned house next door to me, and woke up at 9:30 because my dog was yelling at me, but I feel good today. No side effects, no drowsiness, no leftovers.
This was the Night formula and I gave some friends some of this so hopefully I can coerce them to leave their experiences in the comments section. If you've tried it, let people know what you thought.

Slow Cow
When we received samples of this, we got a whole case. We wagered guess of how many cans we would have to drink before we fell into a coma of epic proportions. Soap Operas would have nothing on us.
I believe this is the first diet relaxation drink we've reviewed. The can boasts "Zero Calories." At first glance of the ingredient list I thought it didn't have any sweeteners in it at all, artificial or not. I made mention of it to my girlfriend, and started reading off the ingredients that are in it. Right at the bottom I almost missed it again, but there was that sneaky devil sucralose. I knew it had to be there somewhere, as the drink has a definite diet taste to it. It almost tastes like an overly diet Red Bull. You know that weird Smarties flavor.
For some reason I really wanted this to be blue. Cows aren't blue. Milk isn't blue. Yet, this should be blue in my mind. It is clear. It will make you mellow and sleepy though. Oh, and if anyone shaves our beards while we're in our comas, we're coming to get you once we wake up. If we happen to die, be prepared to be haunted.

Unwind Ultimate Relaxation Pom Berry
Last night I had one of the worst nights of sleep of my life. I went to bed around 1:30. Then from then until about 5am I woke up every half hour on the nose. Sometimes I was freezing. Sometimes I had to pee and others there seemed to be no good reason. I finally got fed up, and went and grabbed an Unwind. This allowed me to sleep for two straight hours, then the half hour bouts of sleep started anew. This has all of the usual sleep suspects listed on the ingredients; Valerian root, melatonin, passion flower and others. I'm not blaming the drink for not doing its job. I think on any other night it would have worked wonderfully. I think there was just something wrong with me last night. My roommate blamed it on me eating too much pizza flavored hummus. He might be onto something.
It tasted like a flavored sparkling water. It's a flavor I always initially confuse with a diet flavor, but it's not. It's something all of it's own. Pomegranate flavored sparkling water. I bet my mom would love this stuff.

Unwind Ultimate Relaxation Citrus Orange
It's well known that most energy drinks have a fairly similar chemical taste to them. I'm now realizing that most relaxation drinks taste alike. Luckily that taste isn't like something you'd find in a beaker in a mad scientist's lab. It's almost a diet taste. I blame the Valerian Root and Melatonin. They are in all of these drinks, and they are what gives them their magical powers. Imagine if relaxation drinks came out in the olden times. The creators would be burned as witches. "You brewed a potion that put others to sleep. Now you burn!" Logs are ignited and the town reeks of scorched flesh for the next few days. It’s bad news all around. Luckily we live in a modern world where the machines will rise up and we'll all be burned for being human instead of witches. That's a better alternative, right?
Oh yeah, this tastes like a diet orange pop. I probably should have said that earlier.
