Hippo Size Big Black Cherry

Hippo Size Big Black Cherry
You know...black cherry typically sucks. Jay hates it. I don't really like it but I'll drink it. This is different, though. I don't know what's going on in here that's different but it's good. It could be that it's not as thick and/or syrupy but it actually tastes pretty good. In comparison to the rest of the black cherry pops out there, it's definitely the better of the bunch. It's got a good cherry taste brought to by dark sweet cherry extract as one of the primary ingredients so that sure helps. The part about good drinks that makes them good is that they include good ingredients and enough of them to set themselves apart from the otherwise garbage. This is not garbage. This is good. It's almost good enough for me to want another bottle but still...black cherry. You got a "4." Don't complain.

Hippo Size Prodigious Peach

Hippo Size Prodigious Peach
Ben, I told you I have no idea what you are talking about. To the best of my knowledge I have never seen a cartoon, an adertisement, a drawing, or even graphitti of a hippo wearing an orange tutu dancing around with a sceptor like a little princess. I think you've spent too much time working with those chemicals down at the plant. I mean that's pretty creative, but don't get mad at me when I have no idea what you're talking about and it's more than likely something you made up in your head. What made you think of that anyways? Oh you had a bottle of peach pop that was called Hippo Size. Well, I guess that makes sense. So how was it? Oh that's too bad. It's always a bummer when you get your hopes up and visions of ballerina hippos and then what you are delivered is just a sweet generic tasting soda with a splash of flavor that tastes like candy and not fruit. I'm always shocked when companies make the effort to include cane sugar, but then put out a less than mediocre product. You know what? I'm not surprised that you were daydreaming. You need something to raise your spirits after a disappointment like that.

Hippo Size Burley Birch Beer

Hippo Size Burley Birch Beer
People are constantly asking me what the difference between root beer and birch beer is. I usually tell then that birch beer is like a darker root beer that is historically made from bark of the birch tree, whereas root beer is more often made from a variety of roots/barks. I have to admit here and now that I have been spreading lies. I'm going to let you all in on a secret that the soda world doesn't want you to know. The real difference between these two similar sodas is that root beer is extracted from the tusks of a walrus, and birch beer comes from those (teeth) of the hippopotamus. Strange I know, but 100% true. You can surely understand why this would be kept a secret. It would be hard to market a beverage that comes from animal teeth.

Hippo Size gave hints with their sodas, but they hid them behind a promise of gargantuan, hippo sized flavor. They were right with that boast. This is a fantastic representation of what can be extracted from a hippo. The animal that got this from must have been eating a lot of mint, because this has a very strong wintergreen taste, which is fantastic. I really enjoy this red birch soda that is made with white birch extract. I'll leave that for another science lesson. This really hit the spot. It's creamy without being anything like a cream soda. It's just what I needed after a long day like today.

Orca beverages have been breathing life into some long forgotten soda companies, and they are doing a great job at it. I certainly would never have had this if it wasn't for them, and I thank them for the experience.
