Big Peach (1 review)
Hi again! I'm back to review another soda in the Big Red family: BIG PEACH! Why would I submit myself to such torture, you ask; didn't I really dislike Big Red when I reviewed it for this site? Am I just a glutton for punishment? The answer to all of those questions, and more, is YES. So why not step once more into the breach?
On a vacation in sunny, beautiful Texas last week, I drove past a Big Red bottling plant, and while it created a reaction akin to what I imagine a Vietnam flashback to be like, it reminded me that there were a few other "Big" sodas that hadn't made their way onto Thirsty Dudes. So I decided to mess with Texas once again and see what the soda aisle had in store for me. Big Peach is an easy choice for me, I really like peach flavored things, my other option was Big Pineapple and I can't see myself liking that at all, so I'm giving this a fair shot.
Lo and behold, Big Peach is actually kind of... good? Or at least, it's not as overpoweringly chemical as Big Red. Again, way too sweet at first, but there is a pleasant sour aftertaste that sort of cancels it out. As I was drinking it, I could almost envision myself imbibing it recreationally, which is something I could never say of Big Red. If I had one complaint, besides the fact that it is too sweet (I might just have to come to terms with the fact that I don't like sweet), it's that it isn't peachy enough. There's a hint of peach, but it dissipates to quickly. "Princess Peach ghost soda" is what I'd call it. Or "whispers of peach". Hmm, that sounds like the title to an erotic novel.
