Lemon Lime (32 reviews)

Hydro One Bode Lemon Lime

Hydro One Bode Lemon Lime

I need to start polling everyone I come across like a crazy person and ask whether or not they A. like lemon lime and B. would ever purchase something that was lemon lime flavored for themselves if other options were available. I don’t mind the flavor personally, but I could not tell you when the last time was that I purchased something that was lemon lime (with the exception of things to review for this site). If I were forced to take a guess I would say that it was somewhere between 15 and 20 years ago. It’s just a boring, base flavor for me.

This is a solid, albeit diet tasting, lemon lime sports drink. I’m sure the company will roll the eyes at this but think Gatorade and you are pretty close. I’m sure if I drank them back to back I could pick out the differences, but from memory they are close, and that is a good starting point. A big difference is that this is sweetened with a combination of cane sugar and a stevia extract, so it’s at least somewhat healthier than corn syrup and sucralose. It’s got a little bit of a thickness too it, but it doesn’t venture into the land of the syrupy. Overall it’s not bad, and a nice option to have.

Sparkling Ice Essence Lemon Lime

Sparkling Ice Essence Lemon Lime

I love that Sparkling Ice is taking a step back from sucralose, well at least with their Essence line. I just could not get into the dietness of it all. These new ones though have been mostly pretty great. It’s just flavored seltzer water, but the flavors have been good, up until now. This isn’t bad per say, but it really teeters on the “tastes like a cleaner” line of things. I feel like everyone involved in the lemon industry should file a class action lawsuit against household cleaners because they have ruined a once great fruit. I feel like the world used to embrace lemon in all its forms, but now folks are reminded of cleaning chemicals and it’s a turn off. Big money could be made. Big, big money.

Once you get past the association, this isn’t bad. I could do with a tad bit more lime, but I’m always going to want more of that. It’s not really a flavor for me, but I wouldn’t dump it down the drain.

Claire Baie Naturally Flavored Sparkling Water Beverage With Juice Lemon Lime

Claire Baie Naturally Flavored Sparkling Water Beverage With Juice Lemon Lime

In Claire Baie's most diet move ever, we have this lemon lime drink. This drink comes complete with all of the accommodations that one would desire, such as but not limited to include cup holders, passenger side mirror, AM/FM radio and color matched door handles. It also has the most, but not unbearable diet taste. Finally, the taste that dieteers can understand. I'm sure gaggles of people are just dying for that fake flavor they so crave. The lemon lime is standard lemon lime. Nothing to go crazy about.

As I mentioned, it's not the worst diet drink I've ever had so if you have some sort of brand loyalty towards Claire Baie and are into diet drinks, this is the drink for you. Otherwise, this is as average as an average drink can average.

Sparkling Ice Lemon Lime

Sparkling Ice Lemon Lime

How do people do it? How do people drink diet drinks on the regular? I’ve been told that you get used to it, but I really just can’t see that happening. They taste so unnatural to me. Whenever I drink something that has sucralose in it I feel like I’m drinking from a bottle that has a Mr. Yuck sticker on it from when I was a kid. It just doesn’t get better for me.

This bottle of Sparkling Ice at least uses lemon juice from concentrate that helps fight the poison a bit. I don’t know where the lime taste comes from, but it’s a bit like a watered down Freezie Pop. Neither of those flavors are quite strong enough to overpower the sucralose taste though. I wish they were, because I think this could be strangely good instead of just good for diet.

Hawaiian OLA Sparkling Noni Lemon Lime

Hawaiian OLA Sparkling Noni Lemon Lime

Bitter. Sweet. Sour. Fizzy. This is a complex drink. It also has a bit of a learning curve. If you take baby sips. It sucks. I'll say it. No gray area there. It is all bitter between the yerba mate and the Stevia. If you take a bigger drink, you can actually get the lemon lime. Unfortunately the honey doesn't get a chance to shine through because between the bitterness of the yerba mate and the sweetness of the lemon lime, that kind of fills up your palate dance card.

I think, so far, that my one complaint with this line is that I don't know what their yerba mate tastes like in itself. I don't know what the starting point is to base the flavors off of. It's very strong. You can taste it for a while as an aftertaste. I feel like it might be good but I think that it's always masked by whatever the "flavor" of the drink is and you can't take in and appreciate the taste of the base drink. This is a good lemon lime flavor. Honestly it is. The drink isn't bad but I think that the mix has to be reconfigured to allow all the flavors to shine in. I can tell that there are good things going on in here but the mix is off.

Polar Frost Lemon Lime

Polar Frost Lemon Lime

It's not often that we get a lemon lime drink that actually tastes like it has lemons and limes in it. There's nothing wrong with your Sprites or your Sierra Mist or your 7-Ups but after drinking this it makes them almost seem like they aren't real. Now look, they might not be real but this tastes like something different. It tastes as if in the Polar plant they actually house lemons and limes.

This tastes like sparkling water that is flavored with lemons and limes. It's actually good; kind of sweet, but not terrible. It's nice and doesn't taste diet. I don't know how many of these Frost drinks we have left but I think I can honestly say that for a diet drink, these don't taste like diet.

Jay might not like it because of his distaste for lemon lime but I actually enjoyed it. A welcome addition to anyone's diet repertoire.

Pearl Royal Coconut Water Lemon Lime

Pearl Royal Coconut Water Lemon Lime

In a world where flavored beverages are overly heavy on the flavor, to an extent that the taste of the base is lost, it’s nice when a company takes it easy on the old flavor tasters. Pearl Royal does just that with this delicious coconut water. There is but a hint of lemon and lime flavor. I wouldn’t be surprised if they stumbled upon this when someone didn’t properly rinse a glass that has been used to house some sort of lemon lime beverage and then refilled it with coconut water. It’s such a minor addition of flavor, but it goes a long way in making your refreshment experience just a tad different. Oh yeah it also comes in this awesome container, so that’s a bonus.

Hair King Lemon Lime

Hair King Lemon Lime

Why am I drinking this? I have fine hair? How do I have such wonderful hair? Well for one, I hardly ever wash it. Call it gross but look at my hair. It's just fine. It's never thirsty and doesn't have any product in it ever. I am drinking this to review and if it gives me even better hair I shall pass the benefits off to you so that we all may have glorious locks day in and day out.

What do I think of how it tastes, though? Well let's see. With every sip I feel like I'm drinking something I shouldn't be. Sure, it's lemon lime but you can get lemon lime Pledge and that's not edible at all. This is right on the cusp of being called "syrupy" so to have it have a strange viscosity and taste a bit like a mix between a kids lemon lime Huggy and a floor cleaner, that's a dangerous place. A dangerous place much like lying in bed with me with the fear of getting your hands caught in my impending more glorious “do”.

Maine Root Lemon Lime

Maine Root Lemon Lime

Oh, I'm sorry Mister Know It All. I didn't know that you were in attendance. You know all this stuff about saving money on car insurance, the best way to check if a cake is done and so many things about household remedies that I don't know where to start. Well here is something for you, friend. A classic lemon lime pop. Why don't you give your smart, dumb mouth a little treat?

"Woah" is right, you dummy. You think you thought that you knew everything but you don't. This is a kick to the mouth. It's lemon and lime but there are spices in there that surprise your ignorant tongue. It's got a good, genuine flavor but there are special secrets that not even you and all your worldly knowledge know about. Spicy secrets. I would guess that there is some ginger in those secrets. That's a guess, though. Not a "know."

So you can't know everything and I hope that I've humbled you with this simple pop that you thought was oh so simple. You don't know everything and if there was a crown giveaway to those that knew everything, you might want to look through your old emails and find the address because you have to return it.

Klarbrunn Vita Ice Lemon Lime

Klarbrunn Vita Ice Lemon Lime

Does "naturally flavored" mean anything at all when you are not naturally sweetening something? I mean, "all natural" has weight but natural flavors kind of only covers some of your bases. I mean, it's a good try but it's really a pathetic effort and calling out the fact that you haven't completed your whole job. With a fake sweetener, you're kind of taking a theoretical dump on your efforts at keeping the flavors tasting natural. You wouldn't do that now, would you? Take a dump on your science project? No. You wouldn't do that. You're better than that.

Now that I've got that out of the way, we can talk about this for what it really is. What is it? It's a sparkling lemon lime drink. It's not a juice and it certainly is sparkling. It's highly carbonated and I am going to have to subtly burp all the way through the day. Lemon lime? Yes. It really just tastes like a less sweet Sierra Mist. Is the sweetener offensive? No. Does it taste diet? A little but not too bad.

What is the difference between this, Sparkling Ice or Cascade Ice? Not much. This might be less diet. That's a pretty win when it comes to the fact that most people drink things for the taste. If you drink those, you know what you're in for.
