Wawa Green Tea Mango

Wawa Green Tea Mango

This week I took my ladyfriend to Philly to go see Wild Flag, eat way too much food and hang out. She had never been to the city of brotherly love before, and it was a good time. No trip to Philly is complete without a stop at Wawa for soft pretzels, peanut chews, and iced tea. At the first Wawa we stopped at I decided to go with the Green Tea Mango. I have never seen it in the past, so I believe it may be a newer flavor. Either that, or I am just completely oblivious to my drink surroundings, and if that is the case I should probably just retire from this game. So I grabbed the tea, my two pack of pretzels and two packs of Goldenberg Peanut Chews. I made a wise choice. The tea was fantastic. One would think that a mini mart’s store brand of tea would be garbage that was more sugar water than tea, but one would be wrong in forgetting the magically power that is Wawa. The tea is sweet, but in a good way. It’s actually made from green tea, and not some powder. It’s also sweetened with real sugar and not HFCS like most store brands. It has the dry/bitter taste of a somewhat quality green tea, with a mango flavoring that tastes authentic. I had barely made it two blocks before all of my purchases had been consumed. I should have opted for the larger bottle.

Venom Energy Killer Taipan Mango

Venom Energy Killer Taipan Mango

I was born a snake handler, and I’ll die a snake handler. Some do it for spiritual guidance. I do it for profit and energy. You see, what most snake handlers don’t know is that if you take the venom of specific breeds of snakes and mix them with the proper ingredients they make one heck of an energy drink. Recently I’ve been into the sweet juice produced by the taipan. A lot of people have compared the taste of it to mangos, but I really think it has a bit of a pineapple zest to it. I see the mango there too, but if anything it’s a hybrid of the two. After I mix it together with my other ingredients it tastes like someone mixed a cheap pineapple soda with some mango juice. It’s fairly tasty and the energy boost it gives you is decent enough.
So anyways, every couple of months or so I hop on a plane over to Australia, wrangle up a whole mess of the small slithery creeps and extract away. When I have it all ready I fill up a bunch of vials and umm..hide them on my person. Customs doesn’t take to kindly to people smuggling snake venom over international borders. It’s an uncomfortable 20-hour flight, but as I said I’m hooked on the snake juice. Sure it’s a hard life, but the end results are worth it. You should see my arms. They are more scarred up than a 15 year-old art student who only listens to what Robert Smiths tells them to do. It’s not a pretty sight.

Clic Sparkling Water Beverage Mango

Clic Sparkling Water Beverage Mango

Before I even begin to think about describing the flavor of this drink I have to mention the packaging. Is it necessary? I don't know, but I can tell you that it is really, really cool, even if it is a bit impractical. It's like someone took a 20oz bottle, but it in half and put the top of a can of pop on top to seal the goodness in. I really don't see any benefits of this, besides looking awesome. The joy of plastic is that it is resealable, which this is not. Also, I don't know how well it would work for stacking the cans. It seems like they would fall over a lot easier with that bottom. Oh well, I'm not a stock boy so it's not my problem. I'll just sit back and admire the strangeness of it.

Now on for the purpose of this site, to let the public know how different beverages taste. I shockingly really enjoyed this. Flavored sparkling water isn't really my forte (I can't stand the seltzer taste), but I guess when you add a bunch of sugar to a carbonated water it technically becomes a pop. This tastes like a very light pop that actually tastes just like mangoes. There is no seltzer flavor in this can at all. My only issue is that by the time you get towards the bottom of the bottle/can (should we embrace "bottan" or "cannle" for it's name?) you get a slight hint of the aspartame that is hiding towards the bottom of the ingredients list. Other than that this is great with about half the sugar of normal soda.

Jumex Nectar Mango

Jumex Nectar Mango

It's been a long drive, but now you've reach your destination. 11 hours on the road is a long time. It seems even longer when it's been pouring rain for half of it. You get to the house, but no one is home. Luckily you have a key on your enormous janitor-esque key ring. You let yourself in plop down on the couch to just relax. You suddenly realize that you are starving. Problem is it's pouring out so you can't walk anywhere, and you got a bitchin' parking spot that you really don't want to give up. Looks like it's toast with peanut butter yet again. This time you decide to spice it up by sipping on a can of mango nectar during your meal. The food is as decent as you would expect. You went for the honey roasted peanut butter, and boy are and boy are you glad you did. The juice on the other hand, not so great and you wish you had chosen more wisely. It tastes like mangoes alright, but old ones that have begun to slightly spoil. It has that borderline smoky flavor to it that acidic things that are on the verge of going bad get. It's also more of a thinned out syrup than a nectar. What can you do though give up that parking spot? I think not. You'll suffer through that slightly less than mediocre juice, and you'll live another day to complain about it via the internet.

Paldo Aloe Mango

Paldo Aloe Mango

It's been awhile since I've had an aloe drink. I didn't realize how much I missed them until I started drinking this bottle of Paldo. No matter what flavor they are they all have such a specific underlying flavor. It's almost a white grape flavor, but it's slightly crisper. So this tastes like a crisp white grape and mango hybrid. If it was a juice it would be great on it's own, but when you add the aloe chunks into the mix things get even better. Paldo uses smaller chunks than other companies, but they make up for it in flavor.

Rubicon Mango

I've said it before, and I'll say it again; I'm extremely jealous of young kids these days for their juice box options. When I was a kid our choices were Ssips, Hi-C and Minute Maid. I never complained. I loved what I had at the time, but now that I see what the world has to offer I feel cheated. Maybe it's because I grew up in white-bred suburbia, but I keep running into exotic juice boxes these days. What kid wouldn't love a mango juice box? It's so sweet and thick. Think of the awesome treats it could bring in through lunchroom trades. When you've finished remember to unglue the flaps, blow it up with air and stomp on it so it explodes and the straw shoots across the room. That is the true joy of the juice box.

O.N.E. Coconut Water Mango

Buffalo weather is really weird. It's less than a week until October and all of a sudden it's over 80 degrees today. Three days ago I was wearing pants and a hoodie, and still feeling a little cold. Today, I'm sweating in shorts and a t-shirt, even with an iced coffee in my hand. I'm sure some people are super stoked it's so nice today, but I want hoodie weather!

Being the "thirsty dude" that I am, I have plenty of drinks in my cupboard to battle the heat and quench my thirst. I wish I could call this a juice box, but it does not contain juice nor did it come with a straw (sadly). Its contents however make up for the lack of a straw because it's delicious. The mixture of coconut and mango is perfect, and it's definitely thirst quenching. This isn't as creamy as other coconut water's I've had, but I still really like it. It's more like a light mango juice with a smooth coconut aftertaste. Perfect for a hot day like today.

Coba Aguas Frescas Mango

Coba Aguas Frescas Mango

A lone luchador sits in a dimly lit locker room in a dusty Mexican town. He knows he's getting too old for this, but he wrestles for pride and the money he is paid certainly helps with his bills. He's pretty sure he has a couple of broken ribs from his last match. Never fight in a tag team match when you don't know much about your partner. His was a good for nothing so-and-so just parading around the mat. He was self-centered fool, and they paid for it with the crunch of bones. The luchador can hear the announcer psyching up the crowd. It won't be long before he has to go out in the ring. This will probably be his last match and with his injuries he will get clobbered.
Just then he notices a little boy from the town in the shadows. He calls him over and the boy hands him a bottle and simply says, "mahn-go." Underneath his mask the luchador gives a little smile. He flexes and growls which scares the boy off, leaving his bottle of juice behind. The wrestler unties the back of his mask and lifts it just enough so that his mouth is exposed. As he twists the cap off of the bottle he notices that whoever made it took a lot of care with their label. The paper has a very special texture. He takes a sip and memories of the ancient city of Coba flood into his mind. When he next becomes aware of his surroundings the bottle is empty and he is filled with a renewed sense of purpose. On his lips there is a lingering flavor of ripe mangoes. It is one of the best things he has tasted in recent times. It’s sticky and sweet in all of the right ways. He knows what he has to do. He marches out just as the announcer is calling his name. As he enters the ring he knows that he will win this fight for his heritage. Oh, and for the couple of hundred dollars that is the purse. He has some alimony and child support that he owes his ex wife and her lawyer has been sending a lot of threatening letters.

3D Multi Dimensional Beverage Mango

This can tells me to "think pineapple." Don't worry friends. I'm already there. I take a bite and it's so juicy it dribbles down my chin. The acidic levels in it make my tongue tingle a bit, but not to a level that it's uncomfortable. I mean it's my imagination so I cut the thing right off the tree/bush with a machete and use that same tool to slice it up. Man this is some good pineapple. I do have a question though. What does this pineapple have to do with my mango tea? There's no pineapple juice in it. It doesn't even have the faintest taste of pineapple. It tastes like a nice dry/bitter white tea with just the right amount of sweet mango juice mixed in. There's also some cane sugar and agave thrown into the mix. It's not overly sweet. It's just right.

Now if I could only get this pineapple off my mind...

Brazil Gourmet Premium Nectar Mango

Brazil Gourmet Premium Nectar Mango

This is Brazil Gourmet's version of mango juice that they add sugar to. It's really sweet, but it tastes so much like biting into a perfectly ripe mango. I can just imagine the juice spilling over my chin as the stringiness of it ends up between my teeth. The label says there are 1.5 mangos in every bottle. That, my friends, is a lot of fruit.

I really hope that the image of a toucan on the label is really a drawing of their pet bird that sits on the president of Brazil Gourmet's shoulder. There's a board meeting going on and everyone is sitting around a big table. The president gives a speech about quarterly sales and the quality of the latest mango crop. All the while the bird caws to accent certain points. All of the employees are intimidated by the toucan. If it caws while they are being addressed they know they soon will be in need of a new line of work. The bird's word is final! If this is not true, it really should be made a reality.
