Genesis Today Pure Energy Acai Berry
Yesterday was my favorite day of the year; the first Friday of the Erie County Fair. I'm an old man and an outdoors kid at heart (yes it can both happen simultaneously) so I love the fair. To make things better the first Friday is the day of the annual llama fashion (costume) show. Llamas are pretty much the greatest things to ever exist and to watch kids parade them around in goofy costumes they made is just perfect. As per usual I took off from work and spent the entire day at the fair (11 hours). I came prepared with this energy shot to take to keep me up and moving (I didn't sit down for more than 3 minutes all day).
First off it smelled pretty terrible. It smelled like acai gone wrong. I had a couple friends take a nice big whiff and the disgust was present on the groups collected faces. I gave it a little taste, and it tasted only slightly better than it smelled. I was excited to have an organic energy drink. While it didn't taste gross in the chemical way it was far from good. I'm not a huger acai fan, but this was the worst I've ever had. I was disappointed because I've enjoyed everything else I have tried by this company, but this did not live up to my expectations. I would have probably given it a one bottle rating, but since it's an energy shot, and they never taste good by definition I will give it a two for being the first one I've had that didn't taste chemical.

Genesis Today Pure Energy Goji Berry
I've never had goji berry juice before. I've had things that have been flavored with goji, but nothing this strong. It was a really surprising upon first sip. It has a really rich flavor to it. Usually energy shots are kinda gross and it takes a lot to choke them down. While I'm not the biggest fan of goji berries, this is by far the best tasting energy shot I have ever had. On top of that, it's full of so much good stuff that I don't feel like I'm poisoning my body by drinking it. I think a less concentrated energy drink of this, with carbonated water added would taste amazing.

Twist Mandarin White Tea
What a day. It has been dry as a bone for a month here in the North East. My yard is yellow and looks terrible. I am sure that I am going to have a thousand dollar water bill, as will the rest of the gardeners up on the East Coast.
Today the sky broke and rain poured down from the sky. It fell down so hard that I knew I was in for some trouble. My house was built in 1827. No joke. 1827. The basement takes on water like a sieve and today was one of those days.
I checked when it started to rain and there was nothing. Awesome. I checked again, because I felt it in my bones that trouble was afoot. I couldn't have been more right. 6-8" of water covered my floor. It blew the cover off one pipe and filled my sump pump. I had to bail water myself with a bucket up and down the stairs as my basement took on more water.

Eventually, the rain subsided and the water started flowing out instead of in.
When all was said and done, I stood outside in the drizzling rain, catching my breath, and cooling down. I needed something to drink and this was the clear choice. No pun intended. It did a great job and I liked it more than the other flavors that I had. This actually gave the essence of flavored water. Water first, flavor second. I didn't get a lot of white tea taste but I did get a fair amount of mandarin and that's all I could have asked for.
Rule for first time homebuyers; check the basement before you buy a house. Check out the house on a saturating day to ensure that it can take it.

Coba Aguas Frescas Guayaba
This drink is so good and natural tasting that I feel like there should be halved guavas floating in it. It basically tastes like someone walked out into the jungle, collected a bushel of guavas, returned home, got their blender out from the bottom cupboard, put a little water in it, added the 467 guavas they picked and drizzled in a dash of agave nectar and pureed the hell out of it. Then because they aren't the world's greatest roommate they left the blender on the counter unwashed for a couple of days and let the fruit flies build up in numbers until their forces were strong enough to conquer the entire house, which then had to be evacuated and fumigated. Was that delicious guava drink really worth all of the trouble? Yes it was, but since you can get basically the same thing in a bottle of Coba, why don't you take it easy on your roommates?

Coba All Natural Tamarindo
Hey kid, get over here. Drink this. Don't worry. Don't worry. It's not poison. My name is Mike. I'm a writer for Thirsty Dudes. Now that I'm no longer a stranger, drink this. It's strange right? Did you drink it? Come on, dude, it's not like I'm forcing you to drink it. Just take a sip. I need an objective opinion. My mouth tastes like it. What did you think? Strange right? It's like nothing at first and then it gets...odd. Nutty. Look, you've just held it for thirty seconds and you need to shake it again. It's like oil and water in there. Alright, it's a matter of having stuff in there and there is no oil in it. It smells alright, like a light fruity drink. Initial taste isn't bad either, but after a while, it tastes like you drank peanut flavored water. That's not right, right? I don't know.
You like it? To each his own I suppose but it's not for me. You know what, you can have it. What? You don't want it? You and I are the only people who have drunk it. Oh, it's not good enough for you? Well you're a little bit of a brat now aren't you?
Note: I make people drink everything I drink but I treat them a lot better than this made up scenario

Coba Aguas Frescas Mango
A lone luchador sits in a dimly lit locker room in a dusty Mexican town. He knows he's getting too old for this, but he wrestles for pride and the money he is paid certainly helps with his bills. He's pretty sure he has a couple of broken ribs from his last match. Never fight in a tag team match when you don't know much about your partner. His was a good for nothing so-and-so just parading around the mat. He was self-centered fool, and they paid for it with the crunch of bones. The luchador can hear the announcer psyching up the crowd. It won't be long before he has to go out in the ring. This will probably be his last match and with his injuries he will get clobbered.
Just then he notices a little boy from the town in the shadows. He calls him over and the boy hands him a bottle and simply says, "mahn-go." Underneath his mask the luchador gives a little smile. He flexes and growls which scares the boy off, leaving his bottle of juice behind. The wrestler unties the back of his mask and lifts it just enough so that his mouth is exposed. As he twists the cap off of the bottle he notices that whoever made it took a lot of care with their label. The paper has a very special texture. He takes a sip and memories of the ancient city of Coba flood into his mind. When he next becomes aware of his surroundings the bottle is empty and he is filled with a renewed sense of purpose. On his lips there is a lingering flavor of ripe mangoes. It is one of the best things he has tasted in recent times. It’s sticky and sweet in all of the right ways. He knows what he has to do. He marches out just as the announcer is calling his name. As he enters the ring he knows that he will win this fight for his heritage. Oh, and for the couple of hundred dollars that is the purse. He has some alimony and child support that he owes his ex wife and her lawyer has been sending a lot of threatening letters.

Coba Aguas Frescas Jamaica
This is such a weird drink. I really liked the Jamaica soda I had by Jarritos so I was excited to try this juice. The first I learned: I don't like the smell of hibiscus. Maybe other people like the smell of it, but to me it smells like a pile of dirty socks. Luckily it tastes much better than that. It's a sweet juice that is very close to a cherry taste. Unfortunately, the dirty socks smell creeps into my nose with every sip and takes away from the delicious taste. Someone really needs to de-stinkify this juice.

Rob's Really Good Organic Malaysian Medley
People always say it's the simple things in life that bring the most pleasure. Wandering in the woods. Riding your bike around aimlessly. Watching Wet Hot American Summer for the 937th time. Arguing whether Sugar songs are too long. These are all wonderful things. Sometimes life gets complicated, so you deal with it and hope for the simpler times to return. Rob's Really Good understands that. They know that sometimes all you need is water, agave nectar, and hibiscus. Three simple things that are wonderful together. Sweet. Flowery. Delicious.
I've been watching too much Mad Men and it's obviously affecting my reviews. This reads like I'm writing copy.

TrueToniqs Brain Toniq
A think drink? Being the curious beverage consumer I am, I had to try it. According to their website, "Brain Toniq is the world's first organic, kosher, botanical-based, non-caffeinated think drink specifically designed for those who need more mental focus and clarity."
I was expecting this to taste gross, but to my surprise it's really good. It has a really light taste, and just the right amount of carbonation and sweetness (thanks to the agave). I can't really place the flavor though, but it's tasty. If this actually does what it says it can, I would drink this over soda/energy drinks any day. I'll just have to wait and see.

Twist Wild Strawberry
Unlike the last Talking Rain water, this one is actually pretty true to it's described flavor. I would confirm that this is, in fact, reminiscent of a strawberry. I don't know if a regular, run-of-the-mill strawberry tastes any different than a wild strawberry, but I know what "strawberry" tastes like and this is it.
If I might make on suggestion to you, the drinker, keep this cold. It doesn't really keep its "niceness" at room temperature and is less than refreshing because it has a bit of a viscosity to it. I blame it on the agave nectar. Not a bad blame as much as a warning.
It's good though. I would cross the pomegranate blueberry off the "list of things to get" list and just stick with this one.
