Uni-President Bale Barley Black Tea
A letter from the desk of Mike Literman,
Dear Uni,
Are you sorcerers? What type of wizardry do you have in stock that you can do what you did? I was a bit standoffish when I read barley. I don't drink anything with barley in it so I don't know what it's used for other than beer. Whatever you did was a work of art. Now you're artists, you've been promoted/demoted from wizard. This barley black tea tastes like chocolate milk, and good chocolate milk. There is a little black tea, like it's a half and half with chocolate milk and black tea. It's very good. It’s very, very good. I love you. It turns out barley isn't such a jerk after all.
Love,
Mike Literman

Mogu Mogu Lychee
I'll tell you what I love. Giving any drink with nata de coco or aloe vera in it to unsuspecting people. Who thinks that there are chunks in drinks? Who doesn't look at what they are drinking if it comes in a clear bottle? Suckers, that's who.
Onward to the review:
Way better than the apple lemon nata de coco drink I had last week. I'm not playing favorites, but this is better. The lychee gives it a nice floral aroma and the chunks were marinated with the hint of lychee so every time you bit into one, it's like a rush of flowers in your senses. The flavor isn't too sweet and doesn't have that poison sting that a lot of Asian drinks have.
This is on par with some lychee drinks I've had, which is good. Familiar. Familiar is good.

Foco Pennywort
First of all, let me explain the rating. I would not drink this again. It was quite an adventure. I know nothing of whatever pennywort is, and still don't. The image on the front looks like it would have been a drink made out of cilantro, which might have been good. This was better than I had thought it was going to be. The taste was very present. It’s full sugar, full flavor, and full color. This was a dark drab green. I put it in a clear, plastic cup and I couldn't see my hand on the other side. I think if I had a glass half as wide I still wouldn't have been able to see it. The taste was just like a sweet tea that some jokester put grass clippings in. If you've even been bored, picked up some grass and put it in your mouth and chewed it, you would have a non-sweetened version of this.
I've had wheat grass and I guess it's a little bit like that, but at least wheat grass has a natural sweet and not an applied sweet. Does that make sense?
I save "1's" for drinks I simply can't finish and this is one of them. I don't feel the need to torture myself since I've got a fridge filled with other stuff. If I was trapped on an island and a case of this washed up on short, I'd drink it, but until then, I'll let someone else do it.

Ve Wong Guava Drink
I was a little frightened to try this beverage. After a week of binging on drinks bought at an Asian market, I was really expecting for there to be some wacky addition to the guava juice. Luckily I was wrong and it's just plain juice. I'm used to drinking guava nectar, so this is a change since it's not super thick. It's good though. It would make a nice breakfast juice. How did orange juice corner that market anyways? I mean it's good, but something like this would be way more refreshing.

Foco Thai Tea
Another fantastic Thai tea. I love it. This jam clocks in at nearly 200 calories per can, so share with a friend unless you're trying to bulk up, but fitness aside, man, so good. It's very creamy and not at all light on flavor. One thing I see in this tea that I don't see in other Thai teas is little flakes. I don't know what they are, but they look like fish food. I'll drink it. I don't care. If it tasted like this and they were real fish food, I'd still drink it. I have to build up an immunity to it sometime, right? What if I'm trapped in a dungeon and all I have is water and fish food? I'll eat it. It's just fish anyhow. Yeah, fish food is made from fish. Fish are cannibals. Deal with it.

DeDe Basil Seed with Honey
First of all, look at the large image of this. The flavor tells it all. Basil seeds. This didn't taste like what you would think and all I can use to describe it is if you took a banana Laffy Taffy and rolled it around in birdseed for texture. You know what I hate? Banana Laffy Taffy. If anyone has a good gag reflex and loved banana Laffy Taffy, this could potentially be the drink for you. Otherwise I might advise you stay clear.
This trip to the Asian market is slowly ending up in a bust. I've got to go back, but I might be less adventurous next time.

Mogu Mogu Orange
At my house growing up, we were never allowed to finish the orange juice. My dad never said a single thing, but my mom instilled the fear into us that he would do something if we ever finished it. "Don't finish the orange juice on your father." mom would say. Daily. She would say it so often that I still think it when I buy orange juice for my own house.
This drink does not taste like orange juice, but it does taste like the following made up scenario that I am going to make up right now for you, for free.
I come home from school. I'm thirsty. I drink all but a small bit of orange juice. I then quickly realize that I have drunk too much and that there is an insufficient amount for even the teeniest of glasses. I look around in the fridge. Bingo. Orange drink. You know the stuff. 0% juice. 100% gross. I hear the garage door open. Dad. Crud. I pry the cap off the orange drink and pour a generous amount into the orange juice container. It's orange and after all, orange is orange, right? Pops will never know.
Fast-forward to today and if I poured that glass of "orange juice" this is what it would taste like. Also, add some nata de coco and you're spot on.

DG Ting Pink Grapefruit
See that grapefruit over there? Okay now grab your machete and chop that little guy in half. Take those two halves and squeeze the hell out of them into that glass on your left. Okay now grab that sack of sugar and toss a fistful into the glass. Okay bear with me we're almost done here. Reach under your seat and pull out that CO2 tank that's wedged down there. Squirt a hardy amount into the glass. Now you have this beverage.

Chadwick Bay Enhanced Sweet Tea
Sweet Tea, for anyone who doesn't know, is a Southern delicacy. When you go down there and get it, it's wonderful. It's also pretty consistent, which counts more than you will ever know. The problem in today's drink world is that every company has their own sweet tea and none of them taste the same. I get excited every time when I see a new "Sweet Tea" because I hope that it will be true to the Southern treat.
This is not. I often get confused when companies make "staple" drinks. Do they do research? Living in Buffalo, I am filled to the brim with good "Buffalo wings". Go anywhere else and the "Buffalo Wings" are absolutely disgusting. How is this possible? There are like three ingredients. If you have those three ingredients, you can't make a bad batch, same with sweet tea, black tea and sugar. Done.
I do appreciate the folks at Chadwick Bay "enhancing" my beverages with vitamins and minerals but it could be taking away from the genuine flavor of the sweet tea. Listen up, though, this is not a bad tea by any means, it's just not a traditional, classic sweet tea.
Maybe I'm looking into the word "Sweet Tea" too deeply. Maybe I'm thinking that it has to be LIKE Southern Sweet Tea all the time and not just sweetened tea. Chadwick Bay, I would give you more lenience towards this drink if you erased the subtitle "Southern Style" from your label and just called it "Sweet Tea".

Idris Fiery Ginger Beer
Look at that can. These brew masters from Britain have harnessed the fires of hell for the craziest ginger burn you've ever experienced. I mean it even taunts you on the can. "Try me if you dare!!" It basically says be prepared to be rushed to the hospital as this drink is going to burn a hole right through your stomach, your clothes, your couch and your kitchen floor into that tiny basement apartment. You know the one where that the guy you never see lives. You can only guess smells like soup.
Unfortunately none of that is true. Don't get me wrong, it is a very tasty beverage, but it just doesn't have much of a burn. I was really expecting to be writhing in pain, but it was pretty mild. So don't let the can deter you from trying this. If you like ginger, but most ginger beer is way too strong for you, give this little guy a shot.
