Inko's Organic Energy Mango

Inko's Organic Energy Mango

I have been on a huge tea kick lately. Drinking it hot, brewing mass quantities to put in the fridge to complete the transformation to iced, and just buying bottles and cans of ready to drink stuff. For the most part I have kept it unsweetened to give myself the illusion that I am not treating my body like the town dump, but I’ve developed a soft spot for the Inko’s energy teas. I mean it’s not like I’m polluting myself with all the junk in the energy drinks that would initially cross your mind. These are simply flavored white teas (with all the caffeine that involves) with some ginseng and guarana added to it. If these didn’t have sugar added the amount that I drink would increase drastically. I probably wouldn’t need all of that energy, and by probably I mean definitely. So let’s look as this sugar as a benefit since due to it I can actually sleep.

These are some of the few beverages that mix sugar with stevia for lower calorie count that actually don’t taste diet (at least if you drink it cold). It’s just a not-overly sweetened tea that has a nice mango flavor. This is something I feel other companies should strive for. Inkos knows how to make a good product and I look forward to seeing what they put out next.

Inko's Organic Energy Citrus

Inko's Organic Energy Citrus

Out of the Organic Energy line that Inkos puts out this is the only flavor that I didn’t absolutely love. Perhaps that’s because it’s the one that tastes the most like something was added to the tea. The tea flavor is there, but there is definitely something else floating around in the brew as well. Maybe it’s the stevia, but I have a feeling it’s more of the ginseng or guarana, as it’s less familiar. The flavor is not enough to ruin the drink for me, as I still enjoy it enough that I bought a case when I found it for ridiculously on sale. I just wouldn’t pay full price for it very often, with the other flavors available.

One of the things I appreciate about these Inkos drinks is that they are non-carbonated, organic energy drinks. So not only do they avoid all of the chemical garbage that other companies use that make me feel all crazy, but they also keep things different by not introducing bubbles to it. This is energy you can feel okay about. It’s made with white tea with just a splash of citrus in it. The more I drink, the more I enjoy it and think that hey, maybe I would buy this at full price on a normal basis afterall.

Inko's Organic Energy Blackberry

Inko's Organic Energy Blackberry

The older I get the more I appreciate simple drinks. Drinks with less than five ingredients sound like a dream to me. As I see it the fewer the number of ingredients the less chance that some chemical garbage has been snuck in that has no place being in the human body. I like to live at least remotely healthy and other than for this site I tend to avoid such products. Of course now I feel like an idiot because from the taste of this and because it’s all organic I assumed there were only a couple of ingredients. There are twelve. I will say that all twelve are naturally occurring in nature though and aren’t going to kill you (well maybe the sugar, but there’s not much in here).

This may be an energy drink, but it is most definitely not a Monster or Red Bull. It is a blackberry flavored tea that has natural caffeine in it as well as ginseng and guarana. It’s not going to give you a crazy burst of energy, but it’s also not going to leave you a jittery mess either. I will take that trade off, and except in rare occurrences when do I need an insane amount of energy either.
The best part about it is that it just tastes like tea. There is a bit of stevia in here, but it just gives it a weird taste and doesn’t taste like it does in other drinks. The blackberry taste may not taste like you just smashed a handful of fruit off the vine into your face hole, but it tastes more than pleasant. If I were the type of person who needed coffee to get through the day, I could feel okay about swapping this out for the brewed beans.

Little Miracles Organic Energy Black Tea Ginseng Peach Acai Agave

Little Miracles Organic Energy Black Tea Ginseng Peach Acai Agave

I don't know why this was marked down. I'm speaking out of order. This was marked down. Now we're on track. I don't know why this was marked down. It's very good. It's smooth, flavorful, good calorie count and natural. It tastes like peach black tea. You don't have a strong ginseng taste but you can tell that is there with a little bitterness. A kind reminder that Little Miracles is concerned about your mental capacity. They want you to pass that test. They want you to do well in your interview for that new job. They want you to reach your best time in that blindfolded Rubik's Cube competition. 'Tis a fine tea and I would drink it again if given the opportunity but since it's in the markdown endcap, I fear that I won't have the change. I hope all is well, Little Miracles. Maybe a new line is in the pipeline. Let's wait and find out.

Little Miracles Organic Energy Green Tea Ginseng Pomegranate Acai Agave

Little Miracles Organic Energy Green Tea Ginseng Pomegranate Acai Agave

I don't know if I knew what to expect with this drink. There are a lot of flavors in that title. Can you taste all of it? I actually think so. So right away, kudos. Green tea and ginseng? Right off the bat. That's your round one. That is followed by a mix of pomegranate and acai. I have never eaten a raw acai. I have seen that one web advertisement where that "newscaster" girl is touting that it's some sort of cancer killing miracle fruit. Those two friends, acai and pomegranate work together in bitter, fruity harmony. The agave gives it a smooth sweetness. I actually like it. It's sort of calming and rounds out the edges a bit. This has a decent amount of bitterness from all of the companies combined which is nice since after all, it's supposed to be bitter.

All around, it's good. It does what it's supposed to and tastes like how it's supposed to taste. It's not asking a lot but rarely delivered. Congrats!

Little Miracles Organic Energy Lemongrass Tea Orange Juice Ginger Ginseng Agave

Little Miracles Organic Energy Lemongrass Tea Orange Juice Ginger Ginseng Agave

Folks, a miracle was truly performed by this beverage. They used lemongrass tea and I didn’t find it to be gross. In fact, I actually really enjoyed it. Unlike most miracles this is a divine interaction that I can deconstruct. The secret here is that the lemongrass tea isn’t the base of the drink; it is merely an added flavor. The heart of this beverage is a mixture of water, apple juice and agave syrup. It’s one of those drinks that you don’t really taste the apple juice until you read that it is in the mix, and then its inclusion becomes very apparent and you can’t believe you didn’t realize it before. Now add a bit of orange juice to the mix and things really start coming into form. Throw in a few miscellaneous ingredients such as lemon juice, ginseng, orange extract, oolong, and that pesky lemongrass. Things are almost ready for the public, but that lemongrass is just sticking out too much in the flavor. Whatever should we do? Oh how about tossing in some ginger which will compete for one of the strongest flavors in the drink, but with not even a hint of a burn.

In the end this is really more juice than tea, but the effects are the same; it gives you a sweet, delicious organic energy, that might not be as intense as the chemical, artificial ones on the market, but it works enough.

Look at that I have explained a miracle. Perhaps the Catholic Church should hire me when they need to investigate such matters. I mean I don’t have to be a believer to disprove things, right?

Little Miracles Organic Energy White Tea Ginseng Cherry Acai Agave

Little Miracles Organic Energy White Tea Ginseng Cherry Acai Agave

Forgive me, for the only thing I can think of as I sip on this beverage is “Little Triggers” by Elvis Costello. It may not be the strongest track on This Year’s Model, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t one hell of a song. The same thing could be said about this beverage. It’s not the best energy drink, tea or juice I’ve ever had, but it’s still extremely enjoyable.

I don’t think I have ever disliked any beverage that has contained cherry juice. When the real thing is used it is so superior to anything that is just cherry flavored. Drinking this is like eating a huge bowl of fresh cherries while sipping on some lightly sweetened white tea on the back porch of a country home with a light breeze blowing the laundry on the line clean. Can you tell I’ve been stuck inside for too long?

You know what, maybe I was wrong before, maybe this beverage is even better than I thought. Every ingredient is in the exact right place with the exact right amount. The choice of using agave syrup and apple juice to sweeten it was the exact right choice. It gives it a very specific taste that is dead on. Sure there are other fruit juices in the mix, but they don’t shine too much. Instead they are there to dull down the cherry a bit, as straight juice from that fruit can tend to be a little intense. The way it mingles with the other fruits in here just make it perfectly smooth.

It’s called an energy drink, but don’t be a fool and think it’s anything like Monster, Red Bull or any of those types of companies. The energy in here comes from nature. It’s the caffeine from the white tea and a little extra kick from some ginseng. It’s not going to make you feel all crazy and give you the shakes. It will just keep you even with a little push to help you keep going. Little Miracles I think I love you. To bring it back to Costello, I will say something about “Miracle Man.” Now discuss which is better, This Year’s Model or My Aim is True. There really is only one correct answer.

Quick, if you had to be one sort of insect, what would you be? A spider? Too much work my friend. You spend almost all of your life constructing intricate little webs that get destroyed in an instant by some unappreciative oaf of a human. Flies deal with a lot of poop, so they are out of the running. Caterpillars are just too creepy, if they are even considered insects. Ants might be cool; you get to have crazy strength, but a lot of your life is spent in search of food. If I had to choose number one with a bullet would be the bee. You are feared, your spit is sweet and you get to spend you days lackadaisically just flying around just smelling some flowers, hanging out in the sun. Now that is a life of leisure I could get down with.

Being a bee must take a lot of energy though. Flapping your winds that fast has to be exhausting at some point. It’s a good thing bees know where to get the best natural energy. They just head down to the store and get themselves a can of EnerBee. Wait, that’s only Bumble Bee Man from the Simpsons, but I like his style. People, myself included, drink far too many chemical energy drinks to help them get through their days. This here is organic and natural. Who needs all that artificial junk when you have green tea, yerba mate, ginseng and B vitamins to get the blood flowing? Also, there is royal jelly in here, which kind of creeps me out. It’s what bees feed their larvae when they want to breed a new queen. It messes with genetics people! If I drink enough of this will I become royalty? Will I gain special bee powers? Only time will tell.

This tastes mostly like yerba mate, with a bit of green tea in it. It has a fairly strong lemon flavor, and you can really taste the honey in it. I think everything about it is perfect, with the exception of two things. I guess that doesn’t make it perfect then, does it. First off, if you drink this when it’s really cold it’s better. Once it starts to warm up you can taste the stevia in it a lot more. I actually didn’t even realize it was sweetened with the plant, until I was near the end and some time had passed from the initial crack of the can. Secondly, this whole lightly carbonated business is just weird. It’s so light that I wasn’t sure if there were bubbles in it at all, or if the flavor was just sharp. When it comes to carbonation I say go big or go home. This is a tea, it doesn’t need bubbles. That’s just this drinker’s opinion though.

A lot of people don’t pout stock in natural energy drinks, as they say they don’t get the job done. I assure you this one had me bouncing off the walls when I drank it. It was as if I was bouncing from flower to flower, collecting the precious pollen for my queen.

Scheckter's Organic Energy Lite

Scheckter's Organic Energy Lite

Organic energy. What better way to do it, right? Anyone who drinks Red Bull or any of those types of energy drinks has to know that it's not at all healthy for them. You know that, right? Nothing that pungent and cringe-worthy can be natural. This is and because of it, it's a heck of a lot tamer. Perhaps less effective than the rocket fuel you are used to drinking, this is actually drinkable. It's a little bitter from the green tea and the coffee bean but it's actually considered a sparkling fruit drink. I can't actually taste anything in particular but here's the fruit roll call: lemon, pomegranate, and elderberry.

If you are sick of what extreme sports is telling you to drink and want to calm down and be a functioning adult for once in your life, drink this. You might not go back to "the other guys" unless we're talking about that Will Ferrel and Mark Wahlberg vehicle because I would love to watch that movie again.

Dear diary,
Today was a heck of a day. We wanted to go to Lake Victoria but it was closed due to some awful occurrence that no one wanted to talk about. We decided to all go to "Big Wet" which is a new waterpark that has an adult pool where everyone is naked. Now I'm confident about my body but I'm no dummy. I know that it's going to be filled with nude old people. Also, we saw in the town paper that David Hasselhoff was going to be there for the grand opening. We stopped at the grocery store the night before to get some drinks and suntan lotion and went to bed so we could wake up early and beat the rush the next day.

We got there bright and early and there were a few dozen people there already. We eventually got in and it was alright. It really didn't feel like anything special. Two pools probably run by some seedy dude who wanted people to pay to think they were going to see hot girls nude. The water was nice and everyone has having a nice time. Oh, and Mr. Hasselhoff did show up and for his age, looked pretty good. I've got to admit.

All of a sudden, people started screaming. I couldn't see what was going on so I got out of the pool and started going over to where people were yelling. In the adult pool there was blood everywhere. It was like nothing I had ever seen. Someone mentioned something about piranhas but I didn't think that was true at all even though it did seem like twenty people were running around with blood on them. We didn't want to stick around so we left.

All the sun and excitement wore us out so we went back to the hotel. I bought some organic energy drink that was actually really good. It was fruity and sweet and didn't taste like an energy drink. It was tart and on the way better side of other energy drinks. Also, the can had a nice hand to it, like it was painted with some sort of flat paint. Normally I wouldn't care so much about a can, but the effort was put in to it and I felt the need to mention it.

We turned on the TV and saw that it actually was piranhas and a ton of people died. I can't be right all the time, I guess. That's terrible for those people but I'm glad we got out of there when we did. We promptly turned off the TV because it was bumming us out and went to Applebee's. I hope David Hasselhoff was alright. I think my mom would be devastated if anything ever happened to him.
