Foco Dragon Fruit Juice Drink
Justice has been served. I feed people aloe drinks all of the time and never tell them there are chunks in it. It's fun to watch the concern in their faces. To be fair the bottles are always clear, so if they took a second to look at what they were about to drink they would see the chunks of aloe. This can in a can. A solid, opaque, aluminum can. There were also no indications of the can that it had chunks in it. The concern I loved watching on the faces of other quickly sprung onto mine after the first sip. I even went so far to pour it into a glass, so I could make sure they were supposed to be there. They were. The weirdest part of the chunks is that they are mushy. It is just chunks of the fruit, not aloe if I misled you. Sitting in the juice must have started to break them down. It's a strange sensation. It's nothing like aloe or nada de coco. There are also tiny seeds in it.
Dragon Fruit is sweet and tropical, thus so is this drink. It's really good. This may be the only time I've ever thought that chunks in a drink have taken away from the quality of it. Believe me there were tons of chunk to distract me from the sweet flavor of the juice.

Country Breeze Sweet Tea
Country Breeze, why do you deal in mediocrity? How do you sleep at night knowing that you produce a sub-par drink for the masses?
How many companies need to ruin one of the simplest recipes before someone says something? I would love to be that person.
Have you ever drank a high quality sweet tea? It's the simplest thing in the world. It's water, black tea, and sugar.
This tastes exactly how you think it would, overly sweetened and a bit syrupy.
Cut the crap, most companies that make sweet tea that blows.

Bionade Holunder Elderberry
I have never had a drink with elderberry in it before. In fact, this is the first elderberry flavored drink we have reviewed so far. I didn't know what to expect from this drink, but I had high hopes. First sip, I thought it was really gross. It tasted like dry soda, which I don't like at all. But then I decided to look into this drink, and found out that it's made by fermenting malt and water, but in a way where it's not converted to alcohol. This explains the taste. This tastes like a juice that's been sitting out a little too long and the bottle starts to bulge because it's fermenting.
Through the fermentation taste, I get hints of the fruity elderberry taste. But sadly, the fermenting taste is too prominent for me to really enjoy this. It's also more bitter than sweet. This seems like a very sophisticated soda, definitely too sophisticated for me.

Pakola Orange
This has been sitting in my fridge for nearly two months. The reason being that the Ice Cream Soda flavor of Pakola was one of the worst fluids I have ever ingested. I thought someone had switched out my soda with the contents of their grandmothers perfume sprayer. Luckily this is not just passable, but it's actually decent. It reminds me a lot of the Canadian soda C-Plus. It's comparable to a less harsh Orange Crush. It doesn't have that weird thickness of an aftertaste. One thing that does concern me is that sugar is the first thing listed under ingredients. I can only assume in Pakistan that the ingredients aren't listed in the order of quantity, as it's not a semisolid.

Vacation In A Bottle Pomegranate Berry
Two pushes of websites on one day equals stress. Pushing websites on a Friday? Stress. Knowing that the next phone call you get could be your girlfriend telling you to rush home because you're having a baby? Stress. I thought what better time than now to drink one of my relaxation drinks. I finished it about ten minutes ago but have been milking it for a good half hour. The taste isn't so bad. It's a bit diety because even though the primary sweetener is sugar, there is sucralose in there as well. Why? I don't know. I didn't make the drink. The flavor isn't bad. It's a crisp, carbonated pop with more of a berry taste than a pomegranate plus berry taste, but I'm not finicky about that.
But what's it doing to me? I wouldn't say sleepy as much as I would say...spacey. Not that sick, floaty feeling, but that feeling you get when you drive to the mall and then it hits you that you don't remember driving to the mall. You know you drove, but it was so second nature that in retrospect it feels downright dangerous.
Since I'm taking the train and the bus home, I can feel confident that I don't have to drive and I can relax while people look at me as I have plugs, a giant beard hidden in my hood that I wear up constantly and probably look intimidating but really I'm just a white kid that plans on listening to the Thompson Twins "Into The Gap" album. There's nothing tougher than that.

True Brew Peach White Iced Tea
I love that we keep coming across companies that know how to make quality iced tea. After years of complacency, drinking whatever swill they have at the gas station, I have been shown the light. I can't even drink most of the gas station garbage anymore. Most of it doesn't even taste like tea, just sugary sweetness.
True Brew knows the importance of making sure the iced tea actually tastes like tea. Which means they also know how to properly sweeten it. One sip of this and you just know they use cane sugar. It just tastes gritty, without having any real texture to it at all. The sweetness hits you first, and as it dissipates you are left with a nice bitterness from the white tea. It's just how I like my teas sweetened. The peach flavoring is fairly subtle. If someone handed you a glass and didn't tell you what flavor it was, you might not be able to guess. Knowing what it is, it's just a nice hint. This is the third tea of theirs we're reviewed, and all of them have been pretty stupendous. I'm better their entire line is just incredible.

San Pellegrino Aranciata
What we have here is a proper drink. Here's how it goes.
Step 1: Birth
When an orange is born, it is just an orange. No one touches it. They don't rub other stuff on it, nothing. Not ignored, just not messed with. This is a fruit in its purest sense.
Step 2: Adolescence
When an orange starts to grow up, it turns into orange drink. Too sweet for normal consumption, good once a year, kids love it. Kids are kids, and kids love kids. Adults don't like kids, so adults don't deal with kids. This isn't a great time for orange.
Step 3: Rebellious Stage
This is an interesting time for an orange. At this stage in the game, he doesn't know if he will go to college, or become an artist, or just be a vagabond and wander the country getting dirt in his pores. He will fraternize with other fruits and end up in punches and mixes like orange mango juice, orange lemon pop, and banana orange smoothies. It is a wonderful time because at this stage, an orange can be whatever it wants to be.
Step 4: Adulthood
Oranges exclusively make up orange juice. Different brands. Different qualities. It all depends on how you were brought up, but at the end of the day, every orange's carton says the same thing; "Orange Juice"
Step 5: Seniority
Oranges in this stage are refined. They know who they are and stick to what they know best. What they know best is water and themselves. The things they know to survive. San Pellegrino Aranciata is seniority aged orange. It's a tad bitter, but with a real orange taste with just enough sweetness to make it drinkable by most everyone. This wonderful drink tastes like a high quality sparkling orange juice. Aged to perfection, this stage is what all oranges strive for.

Henry Weinhard's Vanilla Cream
This bottle totally looks like something your grandpa would pull out of the fridge. As he opened it and started to drink it, you'd think to yourself "I wonder which war prevented him from drinking that soda, only for him to rediscover it 30-60 years later."
This cream soda has that old time look and taste to it. It has a really strong vanilla smell. So strong, I almost thought I was smelling a vanilla bean Yankee candle. It has a really strong vanilla cream taste to it too. It's so smooth, I almost don't mind the burn from the HFCS as it goes down. Though, if this was made with cane sugar it may have gotten a perfect 5.

Amazake Rice Shake Chocolate Almond
Imagine finding a Hershey's with Almonds chocolate bar in a box full of chalk. It would be a weird sight, wouldn't it? Now imagine eating the chocolate. It would still taste like chocolate, but the chalk taste would still be there with every bite.
That is exactly how this drink taste. I want to like it, I really do. But with every sip, the chalk taste just sits in the back of my mouth while the delicious chocolate taste lingers on my lips.

Paradise Key Citrus Green Tea
I'm pretty sure Jimmy Buffet is involved in the production of this tea. I mean it says Margaritaville right on the label, and I can only image papers would have been served if he weren't. If I ever get sued, it better be by someone like Jimmy Buffet, someone completely random. I can't imagine this ever being served at Mr. Buffet's paradise island without someone ruining it by pouring a bunch of rum into it. Gross. I'm glad that I was able to get to it before some idiot messed it up by turning it into a cocktail. Green tea and orange is a pretty great combination. When this is ice cold it's a pretty perfect beverage. It's not insanely sweet, but sweetened enough as to not be bitter. I'd drink these in a beach bungalow all the live long days.

Calypso Lemonade Triple Melon
How have we not reviewed any Calypso drinks yet? I know I've drank a ton of them before. Today, I went to lunch with a handful of Mikes. We took the subway uptown, got out, walked through a storm, and then ordered lunch. I got a turkey breast sandwich with horseradish potato salad as a side. Oh, you don't care what I got? I spill my life into drink reviews and want you in my shoes as I describe how the experience goes. Just pay attention. My lunch was great but this drink was better. It's so good. Watermelon, honeydew, and cantaloupe compose the "triple melon" drink and it's friggin' awesome.
Every sip tastes like summer. Like you just ate a giant mouthful of fruit salad and then washed it down with a refreshing glass of lemonade. Not to mention it might be the coolest color drink ever made. It looks toxic. Bright. Fluorescent pink.
I really like this and will buy it again. I promise.

Atkins Advantage Mocha Latte
First of all, no I am not on a diet. Sometimes, people just have drinks that are common and I haven't had and they are nice enough to let me snap a shot of it and take a sip. All diet jokes aside; this is actually a pretty delicious drink. It smelled familiar and I couldn't place it. Then it hit me like a ton of chocolaty bricks. Cocoa Puffs. It smells like Cocoa Puffs and tastes 80% like Cocoa Puffs. The last 20% is a latte aftertaste that isn't undesirable. It's got a nice creamy head on it once you take the 10 mandatory seconds to shake it. Since it's so thick, the foam lasts a pretty good amount of time and is enjoyable throughout your drinking endeavor.
There is no sugar in this drink either, and the calorie count is 160, a lot less than many other dietary supplements. If you are on a diet, Atkins or not, this would be a good drink to try.
I'm glad I'm done with this review because I am just going to slam the rest of this sample I have.

Thomas Kemper Naturally Diet Berry Passionate
You know what? This isn't half bad. It's diet. There is no hiding that fact and you know what? You get what you pay for with diet, but Mr. Kemper knew what he was doing when he dreamed his dream of making a diet berry pop that isn't ultra gross.
It starts out pretty diet. Being a Stevia sweetener, you get a bit of that cold/sweetness in the beginning but then the berry flavor takes over. It's nice that it's reverse because it kind of saves itself each sip you take. Rather than leave you with some grotesque artificial sweetener taste in the end, it starts you off with a rush and a push and then rolls it out with some sweet berries.
I'm beginning to not despise Stevia. That's a big step. Let me tell you.

Johnnie Ryan Cream Soda
Often when you see something all the time and it's readily available, you take it for granted. Like that time you lived in Halloweenland for that year and you could get Boo Berry and Frankenberry whenever you wanted. Then you moved back to the United States and realized it's only available for three weeks out of the year. Total bummer. That's how I feel about Johnnie Ryan. It's made about 20 minutes away from my house and everywhere around here carries it. As a result it never jumps out at me, so I rarely drink it. I will be the first to admit that I am an idiot. It's pretty great. It falls somewhere in-between the worlds of major brand sodas and what I like to call "fancy pops." This is an above average cream soda. It's heavy on the vanilla, just the way I like it. Remember kids, just because something is made local doesn't mean that it's substandard quality. It also doesn't ensure that it's amazing. It does mean you should give it a fair chance, and hopefully you'll enjoy it.

Foco Aloe Vera Drink Mixed Berry Flavor
Foco...come on. This is gross. It's so thick and syrupy. Dude, it's gross. It tastes diet but it most certainly isn't. It's somehow clear, regardless of how many colorful berries are on the can. It tastes like someone made aloe in cans that had a ton of soap residue on them. This might be the worst aloe I've ever had. I don't know what else to say. Thumbs down, Foco. There is no reason why a "regular" drink should get a one out of five review. I guess in those regards, you won. Congratulations?

Yogu Time Orange
I'm going to need seven and a half boxes of creamsicles. Could you be so kind as to open them all up and put them in that pot over there. I've got the burner on low, so we shouldn't have any problems. *Cut to five minutes later* Okay let me fish those popsicle sticks out of that sludge. Now time to add some more sugar and mix it up properly. Can you hold that funnel while I pour this into those bottles. Okay now let's put those all in the fridge and let them chill. First you cook. Then you chill.
That my friends is how Yogu Time makes this drink. It's creamy. It's orangey. It's unfortunately not as thick and yogurty as I want it to be. None of these drinks ever are. It would probably have the shelf life of a week or two if it was how I want it to be, but can't a man dream?

Romano's Italian Soda Sour Apple
Once in a while, it's fun to eat extreme things. Oh, what do I mean by extreme things? I mean things that are so flavorful that it actually hurts. Super sweet cranberry juice that tarts up your cheeks, overly hot-sauced chicken wings that clear your sinuses, and sour apple Jolly Ranchers. All three of these are like an exclamation point to your taste buds. Problem is, you only want a little bit at a time before the novelty wears off and you are wondering why you're torturing yourself.
This sour apple pop tastes like a seemingly endless sour apple Jolly Rancher. It's good at first but then, quite promptly, it overstays its welcome and leaves you with the decision of what to do with a perfectly fine 3/4 full bottle of pop. I shared mine with friends and the best they could do was bring my percentage to 50%. This was simply too much for me.

Crush Strawberry
This soda was not nearly as sweet and syrupy as I had expected. Don't get me wrong it's still way sweet, but I expected it to be like drinking a bottle of concentrate. Like most fruit sodas Strawberry Crush takes like candy, and very little like fruit. Unfortunately I do not share the views of Bow Wow Wow. Candy is not what I want, especially in my soda. Really how did Malcolm McClaren go from putting together the Sex Pistols to Bow Wow Wow? I wonder if he wanted candy, and by candy I mean the underage singer of the band. I guarantee she would love this drink. She was a kid and she wanted candy. I say we give it to her in liquid form.

Big Red Big Blue
Let's take a poll. What do you think the flavor of this drink is going to be? Okay with the exception of Tommy, who insists on being a smart ass and guessed it was beef wellington flavored, every last one of you said berry or blue raspberry. Okay some of you said it was "blue" flavored, but as everyone know blue only counts as a flavor when you're talking about freezie pops. As a result your answers will be marked as blue raspberry, which for the record is what I was expecting. It's a sugary as all hell blue raspberry soda that would hurt my teeth due to it's obscene sweetness. I was very shocked when it ended up being a sugary as all hell cream soda that hurt my teeth due to its obscene sweetness.
I thought it was disgusting after my first sip. I think I believe everything is gross when it tastes completely different than I expect it to, so I pressed on. I ended up liking it. It's so candy cream soda it's ridiculous, but I could handle it in small doses. I couldn't make it through the whole 20oz bottle in one sitting, but I'll come back to it later.

Olatte Milky & Fruity Apple
Milky and fruity? Interesting. As a scientist, I had to buy this drink. I didn't think that it was going to be bad, but I also didn't really know what to expect. With milk, you're kind of rolling dice. Giant dice. Fun dice that you would roll at a local discount home improvement store in order to get a percentage off of your purchase price. After opening the can, I looked in and it was creamy white. It smelled sweet and fruity and actually quite inviting. I poured some out to two different Mike's, one Kevin, and then myself, the third Mike.
I liked it. It was pretty sweet, but, as you could guess, smooth on account of milks doing. The apple was a pretty truthful apple flavor. I might say green apple if I have to pick. It's pretty good. Nothing like Apple Jacks, like you might imagine apple and milk would taste. That's bad for people who love cereal and think it would be a good idea to bottle and sell cereal milk. I've got news for you, friends. You aren't the only one who has thought of it.
