Marley's Mellow Mood Berry
I'm going to hold back on the hippy jokes here. I mean I think we pretty much covered it in our last two Marley's Mellow Mood reviews.
For some reason last night I was wide awake at 2am. I tossed and turned for a little bit, until it hit me that I had this stashed away in the back of the fridge. As if here was an imaginary sign on it that said, "Crack open in case of emergency." Glug. Glug. Glug. A couple minutes later I was back in bed under the warmth of my comforter. Since it takes a little while to kick in, I decided to read while I waited. Unfortunately (?) for me, the book was way interesting and I fought through the sleepiness so that I could find out what happened in the storyline. Hours later I finally decided I had to give in and I passed out instantly. Keep in mind that I could have passed out twenty minutes after I drank the can, but that damn book just made me stay up. I was possessed I tell you!
This is supposed to be a carbonated berry flavor, and there is a strong berry flavor when you sip it. The problem is that the berry is quickly washed out by an aftertaste of fennel (which is not listed in the ingredients). I am not a fan of fennel by any means. I do enjoy a visit from its brother-in-law anise in my root beer, but I normally just can't do fennel. I was able to handle it in this. I made it through the can without being completely grossed out. The fruit flavor made it not as strong, and eased my tongue into it. I'm going to stick with the citrus variety myself, but if fennel is your thing I think you would love this.

Pacific Simply Mate Citrus Lychee
Sorry about having two Pacific drinks in a row. As many of you, my fridge at work has decided to quit so I am not left with many drinks. Due to this, and the fact that the North East United States is going to a deep freeze (-4 on my car's thermometer), I had "nature's fridge" which is essentially opening up a window, placing my drink on it, waiting, and then drinking an ice cold beverage. It might have been better than the fridge since in about two hours, this guy was cold as can be. It had actual frost and ice in it initially and it turned it into a Slushie®. Since I can't review a drink that is not in it's designated/requested physical state, I left it out for a while to kind of calm down.
Once calm, I took a drink. It's good. It doesn't have a gross taste, as many lychee related drinks have. It's wicked bitter, but that's mate for you. You get a little citrus to round it out. This has been my favorite mate from them as nicely blended and isn't slammed with too much flavor and not enough natural mate flavor or visa versa.

Pacific Simply Tea Peach
There are so many Pacific teas with so many similar tastes. When a company does something well, they should stick to what they know. Pacific knows how to make a really good lightly sweetened tea drink. My hat off to them. They use high quality green tea leaves. Brew it up. Add a little organic fruit juice. Throw in a dash of cane juice, and call it a day. It's mostly tea with just a hint of fruit. It's great and it's consistent. Although I have enjoyed every flavor I've tried, every time I'm about to try a new one I find myself hoping that the fruit flavor is just a little bit stronger than the last one. I should just be grateful that there is a great tea out there that's not full of obscene amounts of sugar. So Pacific, my teeth and health thank you. My dentist and doctor do not.

Jarritos Jamaica
It should be a law that Jarritos and burritos should be consumed together, because they compliment each other so well. I had a delicious (and giant) soy curl burrito with habanero sauce from Los Gorditos while drinking this. It helped extinguish the spicy burrito very well.
I ordered this flavor because I had never seen it before. I also made an ass out of myself when I asked for it because I didn't know it wasn't pronounced like the country. After doing some research, I now know Jamaica (pronounced ha-mayka) is made from a mixture of hibiscus flower and fruit juices. It had a really good sweet flavor to it. It was hard to decipher the flavors though the burning in my mouth, but it had a great cranberry and ginger aftertaste. I'm really excited to try this drink again when my mouth isn't on fire from an awesome burrito.

Kirkland Vita Rain Dragonfruit
Most variations of vitamin water taste the same to me: sweet, sugary, and somewhere between juice and water in the thickness. This is no exception. I bought it because I was thirsty, didn't have my water bottle with me, and didn't want to buy water. It definitely did the trick. I really like drinks with dragonfruit in them, so I wonder if I'd like the actual fruit. I should explore this sometime soon since most of my fruit intake comes from juice.

Lehar Miranda
I made some Indian food for dinner. What I believed to be a nice spinach and mustard curry. Drinking an Indian soda with it just seemed like the right thing to do. As it turns out my meal was insanely spicy. I love spicy food, but it was to such an extent that I ate little more than a dozen bites. Okay that sounds like a decent amount, but if you could see the amount that I made, it was only a fraction.
My food may not have been totally satisfying, but the soda was fairly decent. Lehar is made by Pepsi India. Miranda is an orange soda. It tastes like something between Slice and Crush. It's nothing special, but something I would enjoy if I ever found myself wandering around the streets of India with the thirst of a camel.

Paldo Sweet Cinnamon Punch
Fans of Big Red gum take note: this drink is for you. I was expecting this to taste like a mouth full of cinnamon, or a fireball candy. To my surprise, it tastes like liquid Big Red gum. It has a strong cinnamon smell, but the taste is flavorful and mild. The cinnamon taste is rounded out by dried persimmon. There's also ginger in this, but it's so faint I can't even taste it. I can't say I love this drink, because I don't see myself picking this up again. It tastes really good, but I'm not that crazy about cinnamon. But if you really like cinnamon, definitely try this drink.

Korean Ginseng Drink With Root
Jason had previously reviewed a similar drink to this one, so I had some idea what I was getting myself into. I found this at a local Asian supermarket and was simultaneously intrigued and terrified by it. So naturally, I had to try it.
I made sure to drink this over the sink in case it was so bad that it made me puke. Luckily, it wasn't as bad I expected it to be. It wasn't the worst taste in the world, but definitely something I never want to drink again. Jason said it best; it tastes like what I imagine the water run off from a potted plant to taste like.

Turkey Hill Raspberry Tea
When you have an association with a drink, it's hard to get rid of it. Turkey Hill Raspberry iced tea reminds me of summer time in Buffalo, NY. I have drunk countless jugs of the sugary tea over the past 5 years. Naturally, this has given me a good perception of it.
Now I haven't lived in Buffalo for almost 2 years now. I also haven't had this flavor of Turkey Hill iced tea in over 2 years. I think my tolerance for very sugary iced tea is gone. This is just a sugar overload with a slight raspberry taste. As far as non-fancy iced teas go, this is decent. But in the grand scheme of the world of iced tea, this isn't that great and no bit of nostalgia will fix that.

Orgain Sweet Vanilla Bean
French vanilla. Is it any different than real vanilla? I mean really. Did they just call it that because vanilla started get a bad connotation with boring, plain, ordinary, et cetera? It's really not a big deal. Vanilla is vanilla. If you eat vanilla or French vanilla ice cream alone, it's really sad. Go buy some jimmies or sprinkles.
This drink tastes like vanilla (of any denomination) ice cream but a little thinner. It's still a thick drink, as most dietary supplements are. It's not terribly sweet and has a very adult flavor. There is just the right amount of sugar that allows me to discern between this and, say, a cream soda. It's like a good glass of just right sweetened tea.
This, being a meal replacement, is best sipped. I haven't eaten all day and it's five o'clock and I've been milking this guy for about an hour. Had I chugged or slammed this drink (your pick) I probably would have been hungry right after. Then I would have made a peanut butter and Nutella sandwich and when both of them hit me, I would have felt like Violet in "Candy For Me, Candy For Me: The Willy Wonka" story.
Wait, that's not what it's called?

Square Peach Carrot
Remember when carrot juice started showing up in mainstream consumerism? My first memory of it was in V8 splash. I was shocked because my sister who won't eat anything and has a natural abhorrence of carrots started drinking it all the time. My sister and carrots are like Dracula and Van Helsing, so you can understand my confusion. She claimed it didn't taste like carrots at all, but I could surely taste them in there. I think she would probably ignite as if daylight were touching here skin if she ever had the Bolthouse Farms carrot juice. Now that is straight up liquefied carrots.
So here comes Square with their fruit and carrot combinations. Mike loved their apple & carrot drink, and he told me I should check out another one of their flavors, and here I am. I would have preferred that it was more than 30% juice, but you take what you can get. There is twice as much carrot in here as there is peach juice, yet peach is the stronger of the two flavors. There's a nice subtle carrot undertone, which I appreciate. Maybe it's better off that it's not 100% juice. The carrot flavor may be too overpowering in that scenario.
My only real complaint with this is that sugar is the second ingredient. I get it, people like sweet drinks. That's not my complaint. It's the fact that further down the list they also threw in glucose-fructose syrup. Does that really need to be there? I'm sure it would have been sweet enough with just the sugar.

Sol Mate Original
This is the strongest tasting mate that I have ever had. It's just sparkling water, mate and cane sugar. The first sip is so incredibly bitter. I almost considered not finishing it, but I'm glad I did. The second sip, not nearly as bad. By the fourth or fifth I was really enjoying drinking this. When I expected the bitterness it stopped being a problem, and it became something to look forward to.

Alo Enrich Aloe + Pomegranate + Cranberry
When I'm looking for an aloe drink, there is no shortage. I've got so much selection that I can drink a different flavor every day for a week. I'm not saying that I have them on my person at all times and I don't wear cargo pants and carrying a week's worth of drinks in your pocket, unless you are planning on spending a week in the desert, is pretty stupid. I used to wear cargo pants. It was the 90's. What did you do in the 90's that you wouldn't do anymore? I bet you did a lot you regret. It was a rough time for everyone and cargo pants were our salvation. That and carpenter pants. Who carries hammers everywhere? That one I'm surprised made the jump from function to fashion.
Anyhow, this Alo has big ol' chunks. There are bigger ones than Aloevine or even Foco. The flavor is a nice mix of pomegranate and cranberry. Both are a little subdued, but still very good. You can taste the pomegranate and just the flavor, none of the bite, of the cranberry. The chunks are like flavor explosions in your mouth.
I've found this at nature stores. So if you have a Price Rite, that's where I've found it. I'm sure they probably have a "where to buy" section.
Oh, also, drink this cold. It's not too fantastic lukewarm.

Foco Mango Juice
I'm of the opinion that sugar does not need to be added to juices. Fruit is naturally sweet and delicious. When companies add a sweetener I assume it's because of one of two things: A. They work for the Dental Association of America, so they want it candy sweet in order to cause tooth rot. This will ensure that dentists everywhere are never out of work. I bet they even have a secret handshake, and those are the coolest. I think we need to make one up for Thirsty Dudes. - or - B. They pick their fruit before it's totally ripe in order to have a quicker turnover, thus creating greater profits. I think my D.A.A. scenario is more probably. Mainly because of the sweet handshake it involves. I don't want to even contemplate that not existing.
Foco does add sugar to their juices. Fortunately they are smart enough to have more juice than sugar. You would not believe how many drinks have the ingredients in the following order: water, sugar, and fruit juice. It's really obscene. Foco, you may have not given us the best possible juice you could, but you did make it a lot better than it could have been. I'm okay with drinking a lightly sweetened mango juice. Especially when they cost fifty cents per can.

Nestle Coffee Crisp
Living on the border of Canada has its advantages. One of them is the awesomeness that is Canadian candy. Seriously, they put the U.S. to shame. When I was in high school/college I knew a ton of people that would take trips up to the Great White North to stock up on confectionery supplies, as well as a lower drinking age and strip clubs. Nowadays there are a ton of convenient stores and gas stations started carrying one of those three.
Even though (for the millionth time) I'm not a big coffee fan, I do enjoy Coffee Crisp. This evening some friends and I went up to Canada to eat at Licks Home Burgers. They seriously have some of the best veggie burgers and onion rings I've ever tasted. We stopped at a corner store to check out the beverage scene up there, and my eyes got pretty huge when I saw this in the cooler. It tastes pretty much like you would expect; chocolate milk with a hint of coffee. It's smooth, but it somehow leaves the impression of the grittiness of the candy bar. Okay it tastes like a liquefied candy bar. Fans of Canadian candy and chocolate milk take note.

Taste Nirvana Real Coco Aloe
In the past, I have not been the biggest fan of coconut water. It just tasted too plain to me, and wasn't as refreshing as others thought it was. I was just introduced to the world of aloe drinks, so I've been trying to explore them more. When I came across this drink today, I thought it would be a great way to give coconut water a second chance.
Well, I still don't like coconut water. Which really sucks because it's good for you and tastes really refreshing. But there's something about the taste that I can't enjoy. The good news is that I enjoy coconut water much more with chunks of aloe vera in it. I'd probably like this drink more if it was flavored.
I am a big fan of drinks that have very little ingredients, and this definitely meets that criteria: coconut water, aloe vera, and fiber.

Fruit 2 Day Cherry Grape
"Real Fruit Bits", eh? We'll see about...holy crow there are actually real fruit bits in here. They're huge. Each chunky bit is probably at least 1/8" by 1/4" so they are some of the largest chunks we've seen in Thirsty Dudes history. Better than chunks is that the flavor is just like real fruit. Why? Because it's made from real fruit, dummy. I'm kidding. Such disrespect. I'm sorry. Let me make it up to you. Cherry and grape together are a dynamic duo and you get both two of them guys wrestling around in your mouth, fighting the end boss, your tongue, for victory and they're pulling out all the stops by throwing giant chunks of real fruit at it.
So many references.
It's good and it's good for you. As the name says so eloquently, there is two servings of your daily desired/recommended fruit intake with the added benefit of having no additional sugar. Tell you wife, tell you kids, tell your husband, this stuff is good.

Juicy Juice Orange Tangerine
Juicy Juice the juice that all kids love...juice. Let me rephrase that, when I say all kids, I mean all kids but me. That is unless it's the orange tangerine flavor. I really should like all of their flavors because it's 100% juice. The problem is that it's not just the juice of the fruits listed in the flavor; it's a blend of a variety of different juices. Healthy? Yes. Tasty? Not so much. Fortunate for me, they finally got a blend of juices that is both healthy and tasty. Even though there are three different fruits listed above orange and tangerine it still tastes like its namesake. It's a good, cheap alternative to other all-natural juices.

Crave Strawberry Chocolate
Baby, I love you so much. You look great in that negligee that I got you on sale from Sears when I was waiting for my car to be serviced. Darn alternator is always acting up. You know, you've driven it. I think that Carl, the guy at the counter had it out for me because he gave me a look of hatred when I brought it the car...kind of like the look you're giving me now. Baby, what's up? I just wanted to tell you about my day before we...you know...rocked the sheets. You don't want to hear about the Pinto? Strange, anyhow, I thought that we could have some fun before we got down to business and I picked this up. You know how you're always thirsty after we're done? Oh wait; maybe that's me, anyhow. Cleaning up chocolate is a mess. It doesn't come out of anything. The last thing I want you to do is worry about cleaning at a time like this. Also, I know you like strawberries, but it's not really in season so I did the next best thing. I stopped at a gas station on the way home from work today and picked up a can of Crave strawberry chocolate milk that I thought we could share while we're, you know, doing it. I know, strawberry and chocolate. You know how you've had your eyes on a Prius, but this is like a delicious hybrid of its own.
Drink up, baby. I keep calling you baby to try and get you in the mood because you don't really look like you're in to it anymore. I don't really get it but give this a quick swig. It's not bad. It tastes like chocolate covered gummy strawberries. That's cool, right? Plus, it comes in this pretty awesome aluminum can so it keeps cold longer. Why are you turning the TV on, I thought we were going to...oh turn that back! I love Psych. Move over, you're taking up the whole bed.

Zesto FrutZoda Pomelo Soda
After I had the Pomelo Alo drink I was on a mission to find an actual pomelo. After a few tries I found some at the local co-op. They are a bit on the pricey side, but they are surprisingly good. They are known as Asian grapefruits, and they taste like a less acidic version of it's Floridian cousin. I can't say I would go out and buy another one (it's quite a bit of work to eat), but it was enough to get me excited for this drink.
This was more like a sparkling juice than a soda. It's made with actual grapefruit juice, and it's not insanely sweet. It tastes like you cut a grapefruit in half and soaked it in sugar water. After a few days you extract the grapefruit and squeeze all of the juice out of it. It has a specific taste of the sugar being added before the fruit was juiced. It leaves it smooth, without any hint of harsh acidity that comes with citrus fruit. I really wish I had more than one can of this.
