Juiceheads Smoothies Wild Berry

Juiceheads Smoothies Wild Berry
When drinks come in these tetra pack they always seem like they are going to be too small for me. Ahh my American gluttony. Truth is that these packs keep me from being a slob. I just finished this up and I'm actually pretty satisfied. I should probably start drinking more things in smaller packages. Maybe then I won't over-stuff myself.

In my world this is more of a juice than a smoothie. It's a great juice, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't have the consistency of what I think of when I think smoothie. This is just a mixture of nine different fruit juices. There is nothing added to it to thicken it up. I'm okay with it. It tastes like you're eating a bunch of fresh fruit. Well done Juiceheads.

Cuties Protein Fruit Smoothie Tangerine + Mango + Other Fruits

Cuties Protein Fruit Smoothie Tangerine + Mango + Other Fruits
Oh how adorable a little bottle of smoothie. It has the cutest little face on it and an ever so appropriate name "Cuties." This may have been your first thought process if you are either under the age of 10 or over the age of 45 and lived alone except for your 14 cats. Truth be told you wouldn't be thinking this is so cute if you knew it's dark history. Remember those monks from the 90's that recorded their chants and sold them in mass quantities to the yuppie crowd? Have you ever wondered why we don't hear from them anymore? I mean obviously it's not because that was a stupid novelty of an idea. It must be something more sinister. The last ingredient in this bottle is "Monk Fruit Concentrate." That's too much of a coincidence for me. After doing some digging I uncovered the ghastly truth that Cuties has been harvesting the "singing monks" mind grapes to add a little kick to their smoothies.

They start off with a nice thick smoothie that tastes very strongly of tangerines and mangoes with just the slightest hint of banana. From the taste you can definitely tell it's a protein drink, but it's not as chalky as you would expect. It is the monk's mind grapes that give it that quality. Tell me you still think this is cute now that you know that it contains monk brains! You do? Well then you my friend are quite the sicko!

Archer Farms Simply Balanced Berry Pomegranate Fruit Smoothie

Archer Farms Simply Balanced Berry Pomegranate Fruit Smoothie
It seems like just yesterday I was complaining about the specifics of what truly makes a smoothie. I argued that seeds, thickness, and stuff make a smoothie and this is way closer. It's also not made with coconut milk so we are closer still. This also tastes delicious and would be loved by all if given the opportunity to take a swig. Oh, the diseases that would go around if everyone shared a bottomless bottle of this drink. Everyone would be ill.

This is good. Get it. It's at Target.

Cuties 100% Juice Smoothie Tangerine+Strawberry+Other Fruits

Cuties 100% Juice Smoothie Tangerine+Strawberry+Other Fruits
I enjoy drinking things shaped like a baseball. It's completely awkward and it makes me want to market something that is fun to drink because it's shaped like a pirate ship or light pole or spoiler off a Honda Civic. People would love it because it's delicious but I would make it so it doesn't really fit on any shelf and doesn't stay where you put it because there isn't a adequate flat surface.

This was an impulse buy that was made because of the flavor and the shape and the price and the fact that the name of the company was Cuties.

I expected a bit more smoothie and less coconut puree, if I may be honest. The flavor was good to start; tangerine fighting strawberries and then who breaks up the fight? Fat old coconut. It not bad, I just thought it would be thicker, perhaps with seeds or something. There is a bit of "stuff" in there, so it is technically a smoothie, I just would have liked more, you know.

There are other flavors and we will eventually get to them, but for now, I know what to expect, and it's thick, coconut Juice in the shape of America's favorite past time.

Frubob Natural Fruit Float Pineapple

Frubob Natural Fruit Float Pineapple
If I didn't know any better I would have gathered from this bottle that Frubob was a company that made knock off Pez and then tried their hand at the beverage game. Look at that picture. It looks like little Pez with pineapple stalks coming out of the top. Lucky for everyone involved that is not the case. This does not taste like a gross candy beverage, and they needn't worry about receiving a cease and desist letter from a classic candy company.

This is in fact a mixture of pineapple and apple juice, with no sugar added. To be honest if they had added sugar it would have been so sweet that it was undrinkable. The best part of this is the chunks of pineapple in it. They are the size of the chunks in most aloe drinks, but with a slightly different texture. It gives the juice a more natural flavor, and feel. I know what you're thinking, and you don't have to worry. This does not cross the line into vomit pineapple flavoring. It's sweet and perfect.

Alo Coco Exposed Mangosteen + Mango

Alo Coco Exposed Mangosteen + Mango
This could not be a more disgusting drink. I mean it. This is hardly drinkable. I took one sip and essentially signed off on the whole thing. I love aloe. This has so much chunk in it that you think that you're drinking something else. It's downright thick. Second, it's got coconut water in it which I am not the largest fan of, but I thought that since it's got fruits in there, both prefixed with "mango" ironically, it might be alright. Nope. It stood out like a sore thumb. I can taste the fruit but it's so masked by chunks and coconut that you'd be better off just not adding flavor, or more flavor. This drink is a Frankenstein of all things bad and no, I'm not using that phrase because it's a week away from Halloween.

Naked Mango Veggie

Naked Mango Veggie
Mark, we have a problem. Friday night I was in a rush to get out of here and I didn't exactly close the door to the giant fridge all the way, and by all the way I mean at all. It was wide open all weekend. As a result almost everything has spoiled. I know it shouldn't have spoiled so quickly but I also left the heat up on high. Don't look at me like that. It was freezing in here, and I was soaking wet because you had me wash down all the produce in advance for some reason. That's right I'm blaming you Mark. If you wouldn't have tried to get ahead of the game, none of this would have happened. Due to that fact that we have just decided that you are to blame, I need you to go down to the grocery store and buy all the baby food they have. We'll whip that down and thin it out a bit. Our mangoes somehow made it through the weekend so we'll mix them with baby food. Can't you just see the new flavor "Mango Veggie."

This really does taste and have the consistency of thinned out baby food. Don't let that deter you though because it actually tastes great. It's initially sweet and fruity due to the mango and apple puree, but then it fades out into a subtle veggie flavor. You can make out the corn, carrots and chickpeas. It seems really strange, but I do like it. Don't be scared off. Give it a try. Mark needs all of your help since I blamed this all on him. If this shipment doesn't sell, he will surely be back at the unemployment line, and by that I mean watching talk shows on his couch all day. He doesn't deserve a vacation like that. It's up to you to stop him from enjoying life.

Cascal Fermented Soda Crisp White: Pear, Apricot, and Magnolia

Cascal Fermented Soda Crisp White: Pear, Apricot, and Magnolia
Hello friends!

I am here today to tell you about a beverage I have tried. When you finish reading this, you will know the name of this beverage as well as my opinions on it. I believe this is the contract you have negotiated with the Thirsty Dudes. And, special bonus: there are pictures.

First things first, this is me, Catie (nice to meet you), looking very excited and mysterious about the beverage I have chosen: CAS CAL FERMENTED SODA CRISP WHITE WITH PEAR APRICOT AND MAGNOLIA FLAVORS.

When I began my search for the perfectly reviewable beverage, my criteria were many. I wanted something that I had never tried before, and that had never been reviewed by the Thirsty Dudes. I wanted something that could go either way: be really tasty or really gross. I wanted something that made me feel brave and a little bit crazy, like I was living on the edge. So of course, being the intrepid suburbanite I am, I went to Whole Foods.

After fifteen minutes standing in the individually bottled beverage isle, list of beverages already reviewed in hand, I began to grow disheartened. I honestly do not know how these Dudes are still Thirsty; they have sipped, slurped, and gulped nearly all of the Whole Foods inventory. After almost half an hour of reading cans, however, I found The One.

CasCal Fermented Soda Crisp White With Pear, Apricot, and Magnolia Flavors presented the perfect challenge. Apricots and pears are delicious; fermentation is not; magnolia is just weird. It is caffeine free, non-alcoholic, and has no added sugar. It is created through "the magic of fermentation" and self-described as "an alchemy of flavor." It should be tried with fresh salads or robust cheeses (but never both at the same time, I imagine).

Please join me as I take this journey.

CasCal Fermented Soda Crisp White With Pear, Apricot, and Magnolia Flavors: it's actually pretty good! It is tangy, mild, and just the right amount of sweet. The apricot and pear flavors are very crisp and bright. Overall, I'd say it's very "drinkable." The one thing I don't know about is the so-called magnolia flavor. I have admittedly never tasted an actual magnolia tree, but there was nothing in the soda that tasted how I would imagine. I'm pretty the whole "magnolia" thing is an elaborate lie.

Now, before trying Crisp White I was careful not to read the Thirsty Dudes' reviews on its CasCal Fermented Soda cousins; after all, I wanted to be fair. After taking a few notes, however, I went back and read them. I was surprised to see so much animosity toward the fermentation aspect of the soda. I honestly didn't taste anything that I would identify as fermented, and certainly no hint of an alcoholic taste. It's entirely possible, however, that I (being prone to partake in the occasional adult beverage) am desensitized to such flavors.

TO SUMMARIZE: I am Catie, I drank CasCal Fermented Soda Crisp White With Pear, Apricot, and Magnolia Flavors, and I give it three bottles.

Raaw Passion Fruit Wheatgrass

Raaw Passion Fruit Wheatgrass
I just left for tour a couple of days ago and our drummer has some sort of disease brewing in his throat. That along with the fact that it's finally starting to get cold and it's rainy and damp has led to all of us feeling like crap. I've been eating healthy and drinking a bunch of juice to make sure that I don't end up being completely sick and miserable (well at least not until after tour).

I found this in a health food store in MI. Passion fruit and wheat grass are two things that I really enjoy, so when I saw this it was a no-brainer. I always expected wheat grass to taste gross and like grass, but when I finally tried it it's actually kind of sweet and only slightly tastes like lawn clippings. Passion fruit on the other hand completely lives up to it's name and is one of the most delectable of off the fruits on this planet.

It smells like sludge, like health sludge to be exact. It turns out it kind of tastes that way too. It has the general flavor of something that just has to be good for you. It's like a variety of healthy things from a health food store were all mixed together in a green-brown swamp of fruity vitamins and minerals. The flavors all kind of blend together into a sweet fruity mess. Sometimes it tastes like passion fruit and others pineapple comes out to play. It doesn't taste like I wanted it to, but it tastes good enough and I'm sure it's going to help with my health.

Bolthouse Farms 50/50 Berry

Bolthouse Farms 50/50 Berry
Most drinks are "moons" or "goochers." Either they are all one general ingredient, or they are another. Bolthouse takes superstitious omens very seriously so they started making a line that is four servings of fruits and four servings of veggies. It's an even split so you don't have to worry about wiping out in your car on Weed Hill in Durham.

To be fair this is mostly fruit, as is evident in the flavor. The only veggie contained is the purple carrot. It is the first ingredient though, so there is as much of that as there is every fruit combined. Luckily it doesn't show up much, if at all, in the flavor. It really is just the berries that stand out. A nice mixture of blackberries, raspberries and blueberries. You can make out each berry in the mixture, which I always appreciate.

You still have a long walk ahead of you, so you better get moving. Sing some songs. Make some jokes. You're young, with your friends and summer is almost over. Make the most of it.

Blackman Homestead Farm Walter's Apple Cherry Juice

Blackman Homestead Farm Walter's Apple Cherry Juice
Since Bob went away to school he constantly complains about juice. Whenever he bought some from the store it was always too sweet, and it hardly tasted like the fruits it was supposed to. It was far too processed. He was accustomed to walking around his families farm and plucking fruit right from the trees whenever he felt a pang of hunger. Also his uncles constantly made the best juices he had ever had. He missed those days, and was sick of his studies. He was just about to pack it in and move back to the farm when he got a package from his brother Walter. Enclosed was a mess of bottles of Walter's new juice blend. Two ingredients. Two wonderful ingredients. Apple juice and tart cherry juice were all that Walter put in those bottles. It doesn't need a single thing else and Water was smart enough to realize that. No sugar. No preservatives. All the world needs is pure juice. It tastes exactly like fresh fruit. Why would anyone want anything else? Bob certainly didn't, so he went on to get his degree in paranormal psychology.

Anteadote Organic Oolong

Anteadote Organic Oolong
"Ahh" is the sound you make when you drink this. I picture myself swimming through space and all of these sugary, canned and bottled juices and pops coming at me, slowly. It's space after all. So they're all coming at me, from all angles and I'm just pushing them effortlessly into oblivion with little to no effort since there is no gravity in space. I am also wearing a jet pack to get me from the spaceship to wherever it is I'm going. Probably the International Space Station, which has a water slide, everything is in a bubble, and looks like the inside of BioDome, the movie featuring the quasi-lovable Pauly Shore.

So all of these drinks are coming at me and I'm swatting them away like flies. All of a sudden, this Anteadote oolong tea comes towards me and it's like I met the love of my life. I (stupidly) hold my breath, lift up my space visor which, yes, is oil spill colored like awful gas station sunglasses. I take a big gulp and I say "Ahh" because I didn't need all those sugary beverages, literally, in my space. I made the right decision, picked a couple more from the seemingly infinite amount which are being propelled at me from what I can only guess is a grocery truck that made a wrong turn at Albuquerque and ended up crashing into an asteroid and spilling its cargo all over space. I go back to my space hut. Put my bushel of drinks on the counter, and think, this is great. It's bitter, natural, and has a bold flavor. It's not like I've never had one like this before, but it's good to switch it up every once in a while.

Five Star Foodies Ginger Cider

Five Star Foodies Ginger Cider
Cider season is here and it's great. I'm a weird person because I don't eat apples and I don't like apple juice, but I LOVE apple cider. I'm currently visiting some friends in Bloomington, Indiana and came across this at a local co-op. I like normal cider, but any cider with ginger in it is my favorite.

This is my first cider of the year and it was a good way to kick it off. It's naturally sweetened which is perfect because sometimes cider has way too much sugar in it. I don't think the ginger is strong enough, but I love ginger. For me, a good ginger drink is one that is painful to consume and hurts your stomach for a while. This would be a good ginger cider for someone who likes the taste of ginger but thinks most ginger is too intense. Mild is the word I was looking for. It has a very mild ginger taste.

Pure Cool Mojo Cool

Pure Cool Mojo Cool
What can I get you sir? A Dr. Pepper? Wise choice. Let me just go over here to the fountain, press this medium, responsible sized cup to the lever and...hmm. That's odd. Let's do it again because anyone who has worked a fountain drink machine knows that the drinks are lighter coming out of the spout than they are in the cups that we drink them out of. Round two, here we go. Nope, clear. Sir? Pardon me, sir? How are you feeling today? Daring? You are?! Sir, I like you. Let's do something here. What have I got? I've got this soda water. Check. I've got limes. Limes are good, right? You're not allergic to limes, are you, sir? Good. The only other thing I have is this spearmint gum. I'll put it in this separate plastic cup of water, mush it up, and pour it into your drink. Deal? Wicked. Let's do this right now.

What do you think? It's cold, right? You can't taste the lime? Eh, can't win 'em all. You can taste the mint, though? Yes. Good. It's a bit bitter because it's just soda water and there is no sugar or anything because, as we discussed, there is almost nothing behind this counter. On a scale from one to five, what would you give it? A three. You've got it sir. Also, because you're so adventurous, that drink is on the house.

Earth Wise Entirely Natural Harvest Select

Earth Wise Entirely Natural Harvest Select
I have mixed feelings about the Fall. On one hand it's awesome because the it's "jacket weather," being out doors is great, everything smells great and it's cider season. On the other hand it means that winter is coming soon and every year around this time I get sick without fail. It's never incredibly sick, but enough to annoy the hell out of me. That is where I am now; annoyed, stuffed up and achy.

To combat this illness I've been downing mass amounts of juice. For today's selection I went with Earth Wise's Harvest Select. It is harvest time after all. This is apple, tangerine, pineapple and carrot juice mixed together. It's strange how that one vegetable (which is at the bottom of the ingredients list) can effect a drink so much. This would be a "fun time" fruit punch, but the carrot definitely takes it in a different direction and makes it a nice Autumnal drink. It doesn't tastes like you're eating a bunch of carrots, but you can tell that there is a non-sweet juice in the mix. It's a nice twist on what would have been a fairly common juice.

Get healthy, and get out outside to enjoy the season before the snow comes and you're stuck indoors hating life for months.

Anteadote Organic Jasmine Tea

Anteadote Organic Jasmine Tea
For the past couple of days my cat will not leave my lap. She goes through phases where she completely ignores my existence and then in the blink of an eye she needs all the attention in the world. I'm okay with that. I like giving her attention, well except when she insists on sitting directly in front of my computer monitor staring at me when I'm trying to get work done. I love when she's a lap cat. It's comforting, especially now that the weather is starting to cool down and Fall is right around the corner. This tea is also comforting. There's something about jasmine tea that just calms me down. The effect is greater when the tea is hot, but even when it's iced it does it's job. I think this may be the first jasmine tea I've had that has vitamin C added to it. It very subtly effects the flavor, but it's in a good way. It still has the great jasmine aftertaste, which I love.

Now I'm going to sit on my couch with my cat and this bottle of tea and read like a nerd. Yes I am fully aware that when I get old I will be the male equivalent of the crazy cat lady.

Baagua Tisane Chrysanthemum

Baagua Tisane Chrysanthemum
I've been saving this guy for a long time. Look at it. It's literally a flower in a jar. It looks revolting. Yeah, it's a flower in a jar, but it looks like something decomposed in there and they're trying to pass it off as a drinkable, delicious drink. Well I'm here to tell you what's what.

On first sip, it was light. Really light. I, for some reason probably along the lines of I don't like to read, thought that it was going to be sweet or mint or something. It took a couple more sips to get used to. Once situated in the floral land of chrysanthemum, I was whisked away to a land filled with flowers and the lightest tea one can drink. There was a strange taste in there that, and this is very strange, tasted like pickles, but once I finally read the ingredients and noticed that there was orange peel in it, it tastes less like pickles and more like orange peel. That is a good thing.

As I stated, this is a light tea. No bite, no complex flavors; it tastes like it looks, light and yellow. I wished it would have been a bit bolder, but as late as it was when I drank it, it was alright with me just the way it was. Although, when I got to the bottom and one of those petals touched my mouth, I thought I was going to gag. It was instinctive. I strategically poured it into another glass for fear of losing my lunch. I also took the bottle's advice and went for round two and put more water in.

Ocean Spray 100% Juice Cranberry Blueberry Blackberry

Ocean Spray 100% Juice Cranberry Blueberry Blackberry
Members of the board, we are in crisis mode. Sales for cranberry juice have plummeted. Our whole urinary track mega cleanse could only take us so far, and now with this "Super Fruit" craze going on the world is grabbing for pomegranate and acai drinks. We have very literally been left in the dust. Who cleans those supermarket shelves anyways? If that wasn't bad enough, with all the garbage going on in the world, no one has anything to be thankful for, so our November rush looks like it's going to be a bust.

Drastic measures need to be taken, so in my own time I developed a new juice for us. It's still cranberry based, but I've added blueberries (a super fruit for all the trend jumpers) and blackberries (the most delicious fruit known to man). It still has the tart bite of our classic cranberry juice, but it also has a wave of sweetness, and is bursting with flavor. I think it's safe to say that for all of us here this company is a labor of love. We have sworn an oath to the cranberry and we will stand by it. Hopefully this tasty mixture will turn others onto our cause, or at least get us through the next financial quarter.

Rob's Really Good Moroccan Orange Spice

Rob's Really Good Moroccan Orange Spice
I drink so much water. So much water. I like it. Nix that. I love it. It's crisp, it's refreshing and it's healthy. Sure I pee an obscene amount, but who cares about that. I've often thought about trying to flavor the water with random things around the house. No not like dirty socks or DVDs. I mean with herbs and spices. Just add a little to give the water a hint of flavor. I then realize I have no idea what I'm doing and that it would probably taste disgusting. No one wants disgusting. Everyone wants tasty.

Rob's has done what I wanted to do, and they've done it correctly. This is water with hibiscus, orange peel, ginger, cinnamon and cloves. I eat the foods of many cultures. That's right, I eat pasta as well as tacos. Seriously though I drink a lot of drinks, but I also like trying foods. I'm not one to say that something tastes exotic, but that is exactly how I would describe this. It's so simple yet complex at the same time. Flavored water with no sweeteners, just herbs and the like.

It tastes faintly orange, but the cloves and cinnamon stand more towards the front. Not in a gross "oh god I have a mouth full of spices" way, but in a pleasant exotic way. If you like unsweetened drinks with a good amount of flavor listen to Rob's sirens call.

Natalie's Hand Crafted Seasonal Blends Orange Mango Peach

Natalie's Hand Crafted Seasonal Blends Orange Mango Peach
This drink is good enough that it doesn't need some stupid made up story in its review. If Natalie's knows one thing it's how to make exquisite orange juice. That's right, I said exquisite. This is first and foremost a decently pulpy orange juice of the highest caliber. The company was smart enough to start with an amazing base to their juice. I feel like too many companies depend on the alternate flavorings to carry their products. This could be a straight orange juice and I would love it.

The mango and the peach are there to accentuate the orange flavoring, not to overpower it. If you're looking for a strong mango or peach juice, you should probably look elsewhere, but if you're looking for some of the best orange juice on the market splurge a little and treat yourself to a bottle of this.
