Kato Lychee Juice
I really enjoyed the last Kato drink I had, so I've been waiting to try this flavor. I forgot this was a nata de coco drink, and not aloe like I first thought it was. I like nata de coco, but not as much as aloe. The chunks are harder, and chewier. In comparison, aloe is really squishy and needs no chewing at all.
The lychee flavor in this is nice, but not amazing. It's not too sweet which is nice seeing as I wanted a thirst quenching drink on this hot day. It had the consistency of a watery juice.

Texas Tea Poteet Strawberry White Tea
Editor Dan sends me messages all the time like, "Have you ever tried _______?" and I will refer to the list and let him know if we have or not. He goes on more little trips than anyone I know. Dude will just up and leave and I'll call him and he'll say "Oh, I'd love to get tacos but I'm in Nebraska" or "I'd love to get pizza but I'm in Albuquerque". One thing that Dan excels at is thinking of Thirsty Dudes and always bringing us stuff back.
Well on this occasion, he brought us stuff back from a store that is two miles away that carries this drink that I've never seen, Jay's never seen, and Derek's never seen. That's strange as we typically scour stores we've been to hundreds of times. You know, just in case.
So he brought us back every flavor they had and I paid him in a burrito. Fair trade? I think so. He wanted me to wait for him to try this, but since he's not here, I'm thirsty, and this guy was cold, I had to go in without him. He would and should be upset.
This tea rules. It's got all the inherent bitterness you would expect from a white tea but a killer, natural strawberry flavor through and through. It contains "strawberry flavoring" which is a bit ominous but it also contains Poteet strawberry puree although there isn't any seeds or strawberry remnants. Poteet is a city in Texas known for its strawberry festival, and dude, if this is what they come up with, I might have to schedule a trip. This tea is wonderful. It's strong, sweet, and it tastes as natural as it says it is. I believe them. Texas is known for being big, not liars.

Goose Island Vanilla Cream
Wait, so you're telling me that the entire island is populated and subsequently run by geese? I mean I knew it was called Goose Island, but I thought that was just a random name. I had no idea it was so literal. Just to clarify this situation, geese made this soda we're enjoying. If that's true they did a mighty good job. This is one of the finest cream sodas I have ever consumed. It has a very, very heavy vanilla flavor, but not in that way that can be off-putting. I don't feel like I'm downing a bottle of vanilla extract. It's definitely a high quality soda. It's very creamy as well, like a good cream soda should be.
I do have one question though. How come there aren't feathers and feces all over/in the bottles? Oh yes that makes sense, a strict health code. The geese of course have to wear full body goose shaped haz-mat suits. That makes perfect sense as well as provides a hysterical visual in my head. Silly Geese.

Mong Lee Shang Grass Jelly Drink Lychee
It's been awhile since I have delved into the world of unusual Asian beverages. I feel I'm about due to have some added texture in my drink. As a result I find myself sitting down with a good book and a can of grass jelly drink. Let me put my feet up, crack this can open, and begin our little adventure.
Before I even had the can completely open the smell of lychee was in the air. It's sweet, fragrant, and doesn't really smell like something you should consume. My first sip was all liquid, and all lychee. What is it about that fruit that makes it taste vaguely like perfume? I've had some lychee drinks in the past that I just couldn't finish, and I've also had a couple that I found to be quite pleasant. Luckily this can of Mone Lee Shang falls into the latter category. It definitely tastes like a perfume, but in an almost candy-like way. It's similar to those Violet candies that old ladies and Editor Dan love.
Before I took another sip i swirled the can around to mix up the grass jelly. That did the job. My second gulp was full of little gelatinous cubes. I know to a lot of people that would probably be disgusting, but I've grown to love a little texture in my drinks. They taste like a honey sweetened iced tea that was somehow made into Jello. If you pour this drink into a glass, so you can actually see the cubes it even looks like Jello that is the color of iced tea. The flavor of the grass jelly balanced out the lychee even more and made this drink truly enjoyable. I've read that grass jelly drinks are consumed in Asia as a way to beat the heat. It's pretty warm out there today, and I can concur that it helped me to fight the heat.

Sokenbicha Purify Aromic Green Tea
Rough days count for strong, unsweetened tea. Nothing calms me down like an unsweetened tea that's bursting with infused with flavors. I've been having a rough time at work. Things are going down, you know. It's one of those things where I just wish someone could punch me in the face and it would all be over? You've never had that? Come on. You've never wanted to get punched in the face and wake up and "it's all over"? You live an easy life, my friend.
Before someone punches me in the face, I would like to finish this bottle of tea. It's good. It's that nice bitterness that is accompanied with an uber-intense chamomile flavor that, I'm hoping, doesn't knock me out. I hope it just chills me out to the point where I don't care if someone runs up the back of my legs with a bike because no one in this city knows you're supposed to ride your bike on the street. Sidewalks are for walking. Streets are for bikes. So there aren't any bike lanes. Who cares? Deal with it.
I could easily make this tea a nice standby and if you are a non-sweetened tea lover, and you've never tried it, you can't go wrong. Drop a small amount of dough and relax. That punch is coming.

Lotte Milkis Strawberry
It's rough being eight. I can't have everything I want. Sure, I don't get homework and my math is just adding and subtracting and I only get like four hours a day to play with friends. I have no responsibilities except to brush my teeth, which I only do when mom is watching. I also feed the dog the food I don't want for dinner under the table regardless of what my dad says. So DJ Biacco the chihuahua has gained fifteen pounds and my parents have no idea why. I don't care. I'm eight and don't completely understand consequences.
One thing that I want is pop, all the time. I love it and my dumb mom never lets me have it. I don't care if I lose teeth; they just keep growing back, right? That's why I don't brush them, as I have previously mentioned. So I love pop and want more of it, number one. Number two, more strawberry milk needs to be stocked in the house. I love it and once again, I can't have it all the time and that's just not fair.
You know what would be great? Strawberry milk pop. Man, if they ever made that then I would just lose my mind. Wait, what? They do? You've got to be kidding me. I have to get some. You have some? It's strange that you would have this on you. If I didn't know better, you would be trying to get me in your van. I don't think you have any. You do have it! I will get in the van because I see that you have video games and pizza in there, but just to eat one slice and try this Milkis.
Ahh! How did no one tell me about...yeah you can close the door. How did no one tell me about this before? It tastes like carbonated strawberry milk. This is the best drink I have ever had.
Where are we going? Oh, we're here? Oh, there's my house. Thanks for taking me home, although it was strange that you did that since I only live two blocks from where we were. Thanks anyhow and thanks for this Milkis.

Go Fast Sports Berry Energy Hybrid
Last night was a celebration of nerds. I started off the evening by going to see comedian Todd Barry do his thing. It was a lesson in the hysterical and a good time was had by all present. After that is when my nerd-ish tendencies really kicked it up as I went to the opening night 12:30 showing of the last Harry Potter movie. I don't feel the need to ever talk about Harry Potter, but I definitely enjoyed the books and the movies. I was exhausted before I even went to the comedy show, so I knew I was going to need a little liquid help to get me through the night. Good thing for me we've recently acquired an obscene amount of energy drinks that will probably take me the rest of my life to get through.
I chose the Go Fast Berry drink for tonight. Mainly because it was a decent size and I was also thirsty (I mean I AM a Thirsty Dude). Don't worry, it's a larger size can, but it has approximately the same "energy mix" content as your regular sized Red Bull. It's just more fluid so they can work on taste. One thing I can say about Go Fast is that they do work on their flavors. They also take pride in the fact that there are no artificial flavors or preservatives in their drinks. This has blueberry, blackberry and raspberry extract in it. You have to appreciate an energy drink that has some real juice in it. Especially when you can actually taste it like this one. They use Stevia as a sweetener and it's also unfortunately obvious in the taste. It is way better than other "lo-cal" sweeteners, but it still has a distinctive taste that I believe takes away from the flavor. If you are looking to drink healthier, you probably shouldn't be drinking energy drinks, but if you need to this would be the way to go.
PS. Voldemort dies.

Tropi-Cola Cola Champagne Soda
I must be weird. Okay, I know I'm weird for a lot of reasons. I more meant in reference to the face that I love sodas that taste like bubble gum. I handed this can to 3 other people and all of them thought it was disgusting. While it's not the best bubble gum soda I've had, it still tasted good to me. I don't think it's an acquired taste because I liked cola champagne the first time I tried it. I guess it just goes back to the fact that I'm weird. Oh well.
Thanks goes to Jessica Pizza for being my lovely hand model for this drink. I was having the hardest time finding a good place in the sunlight to take a picture of the can and she stepped up and helped me out.

Rob's Really Good Peachy Keen
Up until this point nearly all of the Rob's Really Good Flavors have been discontinued. It's funny because I had stated before that I always expected more from this company with the exception of the blueberry tea, which is the only flavor that made the cut in the switch to their new line. I'm glad that the company held the same opinion as us.
This is my first go with the new line, and I have to say after my first sip I already knew it was far superior to their old flavors. If a sweetened tea company wants to win me over with their products the best course of action is to use a decent sweetener and actual fruit juice for flavors. Rob's Really Good has done both of those things. I also want to applaud them for their use of oolong tea instead of the classic black variety. It adds just a little bit of kick that makes it stand out. In essence this is a southern sweet tea made with oolong with some real peach juice mixed in. I can't wait to try the other new flavors.

Texas Tea Nacogdoches Blueberry Green Tea
Call it a hunch, but I'm pretty sure this is a completely different company than the Texas Tea we reviewed in the past. That stuff was cheap gas station swill that was passable only because it was so cheap. This on the other hand is a high quality organic tea. This one is also actually made in Texas instead of New Jersey. Can we just strike the other country from our collective memories and pretend that this was the only Texas Tea that we've known?
This tea is wonderful. You can tell from the taste that actual blueberries were used in the creation of it. The sweetness of it is also very obviously pure cane sugar. It's almost gritty and I mean that in the best possible way. It's sweet and refreshing. I can imagine myself slowly sipping on a bottle while I sit on a back porch of a century house somewhere in the backwoods of the south. It's a relaxing and slightly terrifying thought.
The bottle was also informative as I learned that Nacogdoches is the oldest town in Texas and it also has the highest production of blueberries out of anywhere in the U.S. Who would have thought that? I never expect much to be in Texas. With the exception of Austin my experiences in that state have been less than stellar. Since starting this site I've learned that there is an unusually high concentration of quality tea companies that reside in that state and I'm glad that I've found another in Texas Tea. The next time I'm down there the amount of iced tea I will consume may be setting a record for the books.

BodyArmor Super Drink Raspberry Blueberry Goji
Dude Mikey you're totally getting slaughtered in your D&D campaign. Every hit you take is nearly killing you. You really need to step up your defense. That elf just slapped you and it took away half of your remaining hit points. That is no way to live my friend. You should probably down this Body Armor drink. It says right on the bottle that it's made to “prevent and protect.” I imagine that it will turn your game right around and you can crush that backhanding elf. What do you mean that's not the way the game works? This stuff is chock full of ingredients that will protect you. There's even a little chart on the label that tells you what's in it to help you recover and it also will keep you hydrated because of the coconut water and various other things it contains. I mean sure the goji berry overpowers any other flavor that is supposed to be contained within and makes you think that oxidants are running away in fear, but isn't that what you wanted; to be safe and to recover? What do you mean that you appreciate the drink, but that's not how the game works? What are you talking about dice for? Wait, you have to roll dice to decide on your levels. Well that just seems boring. I just wanted to deal with some sweet dragons. Apparently that's never going to happen here because you're now deceased due to a slight breeze. Learn to roll your dice better next time.

Hydrive Energy Alertness Formula Kiwi Strawberry
Let's kick this thing in to high gear! I wish we had a commemorative drink to...commemorate this occasion. What do you have there? HyDrive? What's that, an energy drink? I don't like energy drinks. They taste like someone put fake sugar and a case of Smarties in a can and called it "energy". Fine, I'll try it. Because this is such a momentous occasion, I will try it. Because you are the best man in my wedding, I will try it.
It's not bad. Is that strawberry? Kiwi strawberry, huh? Cool. Got to say, I don't get any kiwi but the strawberry is pretty good. It's got the smallest bit of a diet sting to it, but it's so light that it's not hard to convince myself it's the strawberry.
I don't feel energized but it's only been three minutes. It's pretty good and at only thirty calories per bottle, I'm sure to still fit in this cummerbund. Now where were we? Right. The momentous occasion that is buying a killer 1988 Ford Taurus sedan. Let's kick this thing in to high gear!

Rieme Sparkling Limonade Blood Orange
Before even opening this beverage I had an appreciation for it; mainly for it's use of a "Grolsch" top. I don't know if that's the official name, but that's what I've heard it referred to. I know that's the name of a beer company that uses the same design, so maybe it's just slang. Besides being visually appealing and fun to open they also wield a secret purpose. As someone who plays guitar (well bass, it's still a guitar) the annoyance of your strap coming unattached from your instrument while you play can be annoying and embarrassing. Sure you can go buy fancy strap locks, but who really wants to have to screw something into their instrument. The secret these bottles hold is that you can pop off the little rubber washer and put that over your strap after it's on your guitar and that strap won't be going anywhere. It's cheaper. It's easier. For that any company that uses this design gets a nod from me.
Flavor-wise this is also really great. A nice sparkling blood orange flavored lemonade. It's more blood orange than lemonade, which I enjoy. It also has the slight bitterness of an Italian soda, but it's from France. This could cause an international incident. They chose to sweeten this with beet sugar, which is interesting and it worked well for them. This is a fancy adult soda that I feel like I should be sipping on the patio of some cafe or another. Thumbs up all around.

Coba Aguas Frescas Tamarindo
Hey kid, get over here. Drink this. Don't worry. Don't worry. It's not poison. My name is Mike. I'm a writer for Thirsty Dudes. Now that I'm no longer a stranger, drink this. It's strange right? Did you drink it? Come on, dude, it's not like I'm forcing you to drink it. Just take a sip. I need an objective opinion. My mouth tastes like it. What did you think? Strange right? It's like nothing at first and then it gets...odd. Nutty. Look, you've just held it for thirty seconds and you need to shake it again. It's like oil and water in there. Alright, it's a matter of having stuff in there and there is no oil in it. It smells alright, like a light fruity drink. Initial taste isn't bad either, but after a while, it tastes like you drank peanut flavored water. That's not right, right? I don't know.
You like it? To each his own I suppose but it's not for me. You know what, you can have it. What? You don't want it? You and I are the only people who have drunk it. Oh, it's not good enough for you? Well you're a little bit of a brat now aren't you?
Note: I make people drink everything I drink but I treat them a lot better than this made up scenario

Rejuvenizer Green Tea Cranberry
When a man is broken down the only thing to do is to load his vital stats into a computer and have it create an 80's like line diagram of his body. That way you can use science to fix him, to make him better. After everything is loaded in the best way to proceed is to pour a bottle of this beverage into your disc drive. It will take care of the rest. Sticky circuit boards are what it takes to cure a man.
This is rather odd. I don't know whether to call it a soda or a tea. I guess it is both, but I feel like one should have dominance. It is green tea extract added to carbonated water and the only sweeteners in it are the ones that come from fruit juice. That's something I can appreciate. They could have stopped there and had a decent drink, but that's not going to rebuild a man. In their wisdom they added kola nut, guarana, taurine, damiana, ginseng, ginko biloba, suma, gotu kola, echinacea, capsicum, dandelion root, kombucha and others. As a result I think this technically becomes an energy drink instead of a recovery beverage. Who knows, maybe they were able to complete the hybrid of the two with their sticky circuit boards.
Flavor-wise this is fairly similar to any carbonated green tea I've had. It has an accurate cranberry taste to it. There was a slight strange aftertaste and it wasn't until after I read the ingredients that I realized it was sarsaparilla. Why that is in there I will never know.
Fresca Citrus Peach
So where do I start?
I suppose, at my refrigerator!
My husband LOVES his soda. Our refrigerator is always amply stocked to the brim because he drinks at least 12 cans or bottles of it a day. So, a few weeks ago, on a weekend jaunt to Massachusetts, we went shopping at the local Big Y supermarket and found a sale for 12 packs that we both just couldn't resist. FOUR 12 packs for 12.00. NOT BAD!! A pretty damn good deal!!
One of the soda's he picked in the mix and match aisle was the DIET FRESCA PEACH CITRUS soda, and I am going to pop one for me now to try.

I have to admit to you that I have never even heard of this flavor much less tasted it, so here goes.
Okay...clearly a diet drink, I can taste this right away as it hits my tongue. The taste is peachy, and not too bad.....UH OH...now the citrus has hit and it has totally wiped the saliva clear out of my mouth!!! I have TOTAL COTTON MOUTH!!
So now I am drinking another sip to see if this is an aberration of sorts, but it has happened again. It has taken me about a minute for my salivary glands to start working again.
I need to drink a water immediately to wipe out the dry mouth and aftertaste.
The moral of the story is YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR SOMETIMES.
I rate this one bottle for the Peach taste.

Master Kong Ice Tea
That's it! I've just come to a firm conclusion that I am not a fan of lemon in iced tea, or ice tea as this drink is called. I don't know if I really like lemon in anything other than lemonade to be honest. More times than naught it'd presence also brings a thought of cleaning products. In iced tea it generally makes me feel like I have a nice tall glass of tea that is sitting in the open and I dust my apartment with lemon Pledge and I accidentally spray the Pledge into my glass. For those of you who are into that sort of thing I really think this tea would be right up your alley. It has a good black tea taste and the lemon actually does taste more like fruit than cleaner, but not enough to satisfy me.

Hubert's Lemonade Honey
I hate summer. Yup, I said it. I know it's not a popular opinion but it's one I stick by. I don't love snow, but I'll take spring or fall over summer. The band F'd Up even has a song called "I Hate Summer". No wonder they are one of my favorite bands. Anyways, I hate summer because it's much easier for me to stay warm than stay cool.
One thing that does help me a little during the summer is lemonade, as I've stated many times. I took a walk to the co-op today and picked this bottle up to quench my thirst on this scorching day. I had never tried lemonade with honey in it before so I didn't know what to expect. I was blown away on the first sip. This is THE BEST lemonade I have ever tasted. The sweet honey flavor melds with the tart lemonade so well. It's like the folks at Hubert's took a lemonade DNA strand, inserted some honey DNA, and put it back in the bottle. They just fit so perfectly together. Good work Hubert's, this is a game changer.

Crystal Light Mocktail Appletini
It's so hot. Water...water...where is it? What's going on? What's happening in the paper? What?! A toxic spill causes rain shortage? Oh man. That's pretty terrible. What am I going to...what? What's going on? It's raining. Awesome I'm going to put my head right under it. This isn't rain! It's appley. Let me try this again. It tastes like a green apple and it's green. This is going to make everything sticky and probably kill all the plants but it's pretty refreshing. I wish it would hail so that...holy crud it's hailing. This is the best thing that could ever happen. It's like I'm taking a shower in a Crystal Light Appletini. There is even got the flavor down to that strange stinging in the back of my throat.
I think that, yep, now that I'm reading this paper, it seems that the toxic spill was actually a giant shipment of the powder of Appletini crashing into a river during a drought. So it naturally wasn't raining and the river mixed up the drink and then it evaporated into a lake. What a delicious disaster! Good thing Kraft sent us some samples so we could properly place the flavor.

Blu Energy Drink
A reader of Thirsty Dudes recently sent us a link to Death By Caffeine. It's a site where you can input your weight and choose a drink from a drop down list and it will tell you how many cans/bottles you would have to consume to die from caffeine consumption. This drink wasn't on it, but it has the same amount as many other energy drinks of this size (80mg). Apparently it would take 185 cans of this to kill me.
Do I want to drink 185 cans of this in a row? Not really. Don't get me wrong this is not bad. It's actually pretty decent for an energy drink. It's made with sugar, and not fake sweetener or HFCS like a lot of energy drinks. It vaguely tastes like a less acidic Red Bull.
My only complaint about this drink is it's not blue in color. Very misleading with a name like Blu.
