Chadwick Bay Tropical Citrus
This is a good tropical juice. I feel like most companies always use banana as filler for anything tropical. I kind of hate bananas. I'd like to think that the folks at Chadwick Bay agree with my anti-banana sentiments and have kept them out of this drink for no other reason than bananas suck.
Pineapple, on the other hand, is a fruit that I can fully get behind, and it's pulling this dog sled. It's ably backed up by orange, papaya, peach, grape and apple. Now that's a team that's reaching for the gold medal.
Even though this has a ton of citrus is it, it's not harsh on your throat at all. Smooth deliciousness. Now mush!

Chadwick Bay Enhanced Green Tea with Pomegranate and Blueberry
At first sip, the sweetener kind of takes you for a loop. I'm familiar with cane sugar, Splenda, real sugar, and about everything in between but this Erythritol is different. The flavor of the drink was pretty good. I didn't get a lot of pomegranate or blueberry but the overall "fruitiness" was pretty good. The sweetener makes this drink "diet" as there are zero calories, which is good. I bet people are sick of their previous options of Sweet 'N Low and Splenda as both of those are gross. Aspartame isn't much better. This one makes things a bit "cool" to the taste and is present that it's not a "real" sugar but it's not terrible. I will drink the rest of this and encourage anyone who is dieting to give it a try.

Nygarda Julmust
What's that middle taste? I can't figure it out. It's like a cola last. Maybe there is some grape in there but it's made from hops and barley, which makes the aroma. It's not bad but my mind is telling me it's alcoholic. Nothing on the bottle says that there is but it tastes a little like I remember old, crappy red wine to smell.
I don't know who I could recommend this to. Someone who loves red wine, pop, and can't drink at work, but really want to drink at work. You know, the perfect clientele.
I don't know if this is seasonal, either, because there is a little Santa-like gnome wearing mittens and is surrounded by packages.

Big Bamboo Irish Moss
Mooooooooooom why is my pudding so liquidy? Oh because you accidentally put the pudding in a can, and the drink in my pudding bowl? Seriously this has the consistency of pudding/the slime you got out of quarter machine as a kid. I had to shake the can to get it in the cups in glops.
It also reminds me of how vanilla egg nog pudding would taste. This is just strange. I just can't get over the consistency. I don't think it would be so gross if it were more of a fluid.

Viso StrawKey
My first experience with Viso was this summer at the Portland Zine Symposium. Viso was kind enough to donate 50 cases of their products to the 2 day zine fest. Seeing as I was one of the organizers and barely slept that weekend, Viso's energy drinks were what kept me going.
I picked this bottle up at the store thinking it was an energy drink. To my surprise, it wasn't. The bottle labels it as a dietary supplement, but it's sorta like Vitamin Water. This thing is loaded with vitamins (12 to be exact) plus minerals, calcium, and a whole lot more. On top of that, it's an organic drink and is a local company to Portland.
As far as taste goes, I'm not crazy about it. It doesn't go down really smooth. While I can taste the strawberry and key lime, immediately after there's a strong bitter after taste. After drinking a few sips of it, there's a thick feeling in the back of my throat that makes it hard to swallow. I've had this same thing happen with every flavor I've tasted, so perhaps there's something in it that's making my throat do that.
I know a lot of people in Portland love this drink, but I can't really get into it. While it's a good company and a super healthy drink, it just doesn't taste good to me.

New Leaf Plum Green Tea
Our first plum drink! I don't eat plums. They're a friggin' mess, and for someone who doesn't use napkins, that is not a good path to go down. I needn't bother going into my hatred for napkins. Let me just say, be more careful when you eat and don't rely on napkins. Done. So anyhow, I liked it. Let it be known that it's not because of the flavor that I don't eat plums. Not a lot of stuff we've found have had plums in it and after drinking this tea it makes me wonder why not.
New Leaf nailed the green tea bite and combined with just the right amount of cane sugar, this is the gold standard. Add a lil' bit o' plum and you've got something. This, my friends, is a solid recommendation. Even if you're the smallest bit curious about how this will taste, you will like it. It's a new flavor for you and something to enjoy in the future.

Santa Cruz Organic Pomegranate Limeade
I had seen these around in four packs for quite awhile. I didn't pick it up though because I was afraid of a seltzer water flavor, and I didn't want to be stuck with 3 extra cans that I didn't like. I finally found single cans in a health food store in Toronto. I should have tried it a long time ago. It's pretty great with zero seltzer taste.
Is there a better flavor match up than pomegranate and lime? They compliment so well that they almost become an entirely new flavor altogether. It becomes hard to distinguish the original flavors separately. I really enjoyed this. It's lightly carbonated and it tastes like a dream.

Black River Apple Juice
You know what I love? Drinks that have sediment at the bottom of the bottle that you have to shake up. When it's there, you just know that it's natural with real fruit. This is no different. Nothing is added to the drink. It is just pressed apples. So grab that bottle shake it up, twist off the cap and down that juice.

Aloevine Peach
I'm unfortunately running out of things to say about Aloevine drinks. They all have the same consistency, and awesome chunks of aloe. The added flavor is the only thing that really differs. The peach doesn't so much taste like an actual peach as it does like peach gummy candy. Normally I'm put off when drinks have a candy taste to them, but this is pretty enjoyable. I drank the first half of the bottle of this when it was extremely cold, and it wasn't very strong. I finished it off about an hour later when it had gotten back to room temperature. At a moderate temperature the flavor was way stronger, and much more enjoyable.

Red Bull Sugarfree
There was a point in my life when I preferred the sugar free Red Bull over the original. When I drank this I cannot for the life of me remember why. It tastes very similar to regular Red Bull, like liquid Smarties. The exception is that it's made with Aspartame. That means it tastes like diet liquid Smarties.
As far as diet drinks go, it's not bad. I suggest it if you're looking for a pick me up, but you're watching your weight. If that's not an issue, just grab an original one out of the cooler at the gas station.

Tymbark Blackcurrent
How do I describe the smell of this drink in a way that you could understand? Red wine mixed with body odor. I'd say that does it justice.
Taste? Kind of like a grape juice. Like a red grape juice, not like a white grape. Not a lot of body or presence either which is kind of strange. There's no bite or sharpness or bitterness or tartness or anything.
Now myself, and possibly you, have no idea what a blackcurrant is. To me it kind of looks like a purple grape on the carton. I don't know what it tastes like to base the flavor of it, but I assume that the actual fruit has some sort of character. This just feels a bit lacking. It's got a lot of flavor though so you could possibly use this as a mixer.

Foco Passion Fruit Drink
As I sit here and wait for the security people, which they should of been here 16 minutes ago I'm drinking by my lonesome a glass of passion fruit drink. The ingredients are sugar, water, and passion fruit juice? All the same this is pretty good. It's pretty sweet but a good natural fruit sweet. It's right on the line of a juice and smoothie because it's not as thick as a smoothie but it's also thicker than juice.
Finally the dude's here. Safety.
I got this drink at a local, low price food store but you could probably get it at nearly every Hispanic market. Also, for around a dollar, you can't go wrong.

Hubert's Lemonade Original
Part I:
I don't get it. If you have one sugar, why don't you stick with it? If you are sweetening primarily with cane sugar, why add rebiana, which is a stevia extract? You've clearly already made your decision to sweeten one, way, are you trying to cheapen costs by "watering down" your sugar by adding fake sugar? This is the equivalent of cutting cocaine with baking soda to "break even".
Part II:
3/4 of people that drank this didn't like it. It's very sweet, and had a very harsh lemon "pinch". You know what that is, right? Like when you drink something sour and your cheeks contract? Pinch. Got it? There is lemon in the bottle, this is true and it's not lemon flavor, it's actually made from lemon concentrate. It tastes like kids lemonade. Good when you're hot, but the mix just isn't right. It is very sweet, but there is also a strong lemon kick to it, so I can't pinpoint what's "wrong". Maybe there isn't, but this is not the best lemonade I've had.
Look...I want to like this, I really do. I don't know why? It's just a drink, but sometimes you just get a good feeling. I had high hopes for Hubert's. Good, classic bottles with nice, embossed labels and a cute story about how it was founded way back in 1935. Something changed in the last 75 years that slightly modified the recipe, I can almost guarantee.
Could it be because it is fall and I'm wearing a jacket that this just isn't getting the review it deserves? Could I just not be thirsty enough? If a child poured this into a Dixie cup and sold it to me for a quarter, would it taste better? I don't know. Someone else buy this and let me know what I'm missing if I am, in fact, missing something.

Virgil's Black Cherry Cream Soda
Smooth.
Could you imagine if I left it at that, a one-word review? That's super lame so I will actually sell this drink to you. Let's start at the top. It's got a good black cherry taste like that of your standard black cherry pops, but less sweet and it had a very strong black cherry nose to it as opposed to the sugary, candy standard. Shortly after everything is rounded out quite rapidly by the cream soda. Creme soda? Whatever. By the time it goes down your throat, it's been coated by the creaminess and it just glides down.
Having never had any other black cherry cream soda, I can't compare it, but also, for that I give kudos to Virgil's for making a unique new product.

Taste Nirvana Real Thai Tea Latte
I had reviewed this quite awhile ago, but they updated the bottle and now call it a latte. I didn't realize it was the same until I got home. I love the bottle design, so I decided to change the photo.
Here's my old review:
This is one of the sweetest teas I've ever had. It's not “cavity sweetness” though. It's more of a creamy sweetness. It's great. I've had Thai Tea in restaurants before, and it was pretty good, but this blows that out of the water.
The spices in the tea stand out, without being too strong. It's also very milky. I think that is what is balancing out the spices so nicely. It's reminiscent of chai tea, but the spices are slightly different. How many times can I say the word spices? Something about it tastes very homemade. I love that.

Function Alternative Energy Acai Grape
I didn't expect this to be so fruity. I drank an acai drink earlier today, and this didn't really taste like acai, but it was still tasty. It kind of tasted like if some really good fruit punch was mixed with Vitamin Water. There is a weird mixture of ingredients in this. Purple Sweet Potato Extract? Strange. It is an all-natural energy drink, so that's nice. I always appreciate energy drinks that aren't "toxic tasting" and full of weird man made chemicals.

Nature's Nectar White Grape and Peach
I did not expect to like this. I don't know why, but I didn't. For this I am sorry, double N. There is a very good, light peach taste. It tastes like a real peach. There is a little bit of grape juice, too, but peach is way more prominent.
My mom got this in a six-pack from Aldi's, who is the umbrella manufacturer of this company.
It was a bit high in sugar (44g) and had quite a bit of calories (180) so this is a "once in a while" treat.

Royal Mills Iced Cappuccino
I am not a big fan of coffee. On occasions I like really sweet iced coffee drinks. Due to that my lady friend made me try this. I was shocked at how much I liked it. It's super, super sweet, and the coffee flavor isn't too strong. It reminds me of coffee ice cream. If you're a coffee fiend, this may not be strong enough for you, but it's good for me.

Bolthouse Farms Bom Dia Acai
I've never actually had anything that was just Acai before. It's always added to other juices for the health benefits. I think I like it better when it's the star of the game. I've had this in my fridge for about a week. I was nervous to try it. I expected it to be insanely potent like pomegranate juice can be. It ended up having the intensity of your normal run of the mill juice. The acidity doesn't burn your throat, which was good. It reminds me of blueberries and grapes mixed, maybe a little apple through into the mix. *I just looked at the ingredients and there is apple juice in it.* After that last sip I realized what it tastes like, a berry fruit roll up. It's like they took a hundred of those sticky little sheets and liquefied them. The more I drink it, the more I like it. Out of all of the "super fruit" drinks that I've had, this is easily the best.

Tazo Brambleberry
This drink is like a Rorschach test. Everyone had a sip or two and everyone came out with different results. My mom said it tasted like prune juice, my brother said it was like a not-as-dry cranberry juice. Me? I thought it tasted like blackberry tea mixed with apple cider. It was a complex flavor. It's defiantly a juice first and then an array of spices and stuff.
It's good to have an accessible company make things that are a bit out of the ordinary. It allows the general public to get access to something different rather than just everyday fruit flavoring.
