Green River (1 review)
Green River
This beverage makes me think of the pre Mudhoney/Pearl Jam band of the same name and Gary Ridgway aka the Green River Killer (he looks so much like Charles Bronson it's creepy). I can't see a soda company wanting to be associated with either thing, too bad for them.
This was originally made during prohibition times. Since you had to either make it in your bathtub, or drive over a frozen lake to Canada to score some alcohol, many people embraced soda pop. I have been on the look out for this for a while, and I scored in at Village Candy just outside of Pittsburgh. I was excited to finally get it, but my excitement faded after the first sip. Bummer. It's a lime soda, but it tastes fairly bland. The lime flavor is pretty weak. It mostly just tastes like carbonated sugar water with a hint of lime. It's also so bright green that I thought the glass was actually green until I started drinking it. It looks toxic.
This is made in Chicago, so why do they call it Green River? The Green river is in Washington state. I know they dye the Chicago River green every year, but that has only been going on for forty years or so, and this has been in production for 90. I demand answers!
