Ski Cherry

Ski Cherry

It's been a while since I've had some Ski. This tastes almost like a cherry limeade but without the "fancy" title. It has a decent cherry taste and then there is the mystery "citrus" flavor that twists it a little bit. I let a dude at work try it and he liked it so by all means that means that it can't be that bad.

There is not much to say. Honestly it's just a cherry pop. I wish I could make up a whimsical story about a dog saving a bird from a shark but I don't have it in me.

Ski

Ski

I know we’ve said it before, and we’ll probably say it again, but I love a nice classic looking bottle of soda. This may have a label on it, but the background is clear, so that plus the limited colors used creates the illusion that it is screen printed directly on the bottle, like in the “olden” days. Ski is actually from the 50’s originally, so I guess it is from the golden age of soda.

From the look of the bottle one would assume that Ski was a boring old lemon lime soda. One of course would be wrong in that thought process. It is labeled as a citrus soda, and it actually is like a classier version of Mountain Dew. You know the younger brother who thinks his sibling is being ridiculous with the caffeine and intensity. The reason I say this is that this is the only other soda of this type that I can think of that has lemon and orange juice in it. Neither flavor is too intense, but I would liken it to a more interesting lemon lime, or a milder Mountain Dew. Either way it has the look and taste of a classic.

Ski Infra Red

Ski Infra Red

It seemed like everyone was either out of town or had plans yesterday so I started my winter ritual of wasting my time playing video games a bit early. Since my ladyfriend was one of the people that were out of town, the cats and I had the apartment to ourselves. I played far too many hours of Final Fantasy, until I got a call that Mike was available and he wanted me to come over and play even more video games. I swear outside of a couple of winter months I rarely if ever play these things. We ended up playing Home Run All Stars Derby for far too long and laughed way too much.

Since the day was filled with electronic fun I decided I needed to imbibe an appropriate beverage. My good friend Kevyn gave me this soda and this seemed to be the perfect time for it. The description of the can proclaims it to be a “citrus wired cherry soda” aka cherry soda with caffeine in it. I suspected it to taste like Mountain Dew Code Red, which it did, but much better. The base is like a cherry soda with a light Mountain Dew taste to it, but the kicker is that there is also orange in there as well. That’s what sets the drink off, and gives you these weird orange burps afterwards. I was just struck by the vision of actually being able to see burps exiting someone’s mouth and them having an orange tint to them. Strange times.

Ski Lemon Orange

Ski Lemon Orange

Lemon and lime. Lemon and lime. Lemon and lime. It gets old after a while doesn't it? You know that one friend who tells the same story all the time? I've been known to do this, but I can admit it, which makes me above those that don't. Yeah, I'm better than some people. Who cares? Embrace what you're good at. You know what Ski is good at? Mixing lemon and orange and throwing limes in the garbage or giving them to Mexican restaurants for delicious tacos or to bars to put in Corona beers to make them more drinkable. Yeah, I know originally you put limes in because it keeps the flies out, but if there are flies in your bar, find a different bar because someone isn't cleaning sufficiently.

Orange and lemon pop is pretty good. It's less sweet than a lemon lime pop and after you accept that orange took lemon's place, it's not bad.

Good job Ski. You've done a good job of switching it up.
